Re: Europe in September

Easyjet and Air France fly from Paris to Biarritz. It'll probably cost about £80 return in September - bit more than the train but three hours quicker. Probably what I would do is hire a crappy little camper from these guys https://www.campycamper.com/my-little-campy/?lang=en (150 euros for three da...

Re: Margaret River Pro 2018

Great contests in great waves are nothing new though are they. The perennial problem of nobody watching isn’t going to be addressed by a brief upward spike in wave quality

He does like it. From memory, he added about 10 litres to his normal volume which might compromise its top end a bit. Or not

Re: Lost Puddle Jumper

Mighty Sunbird has one loof. I'm sure he can give you some pointers. Looking at it in some vids (admittedly under the feet of pros) it looks like it has a bigger range than you might think. ...lost does that type of board pretty well, I reckon

Re: Blimp used to spot sharks

Good idea but as far as I know sharks are very hard to spot in the water. About 80% of the time (I'm guessing) the water is just about opaque due to cloud, wind, reflection or suspended sediment. they're probably using a multispectral imaging camera. I watched a programme about it a few years ago -...

Re: Margaret River Pro 2018

The turning point was a few years ago when they neutered the one-manoeuvre Hail Mary. Although well intentioned, all it actually did was usher in blandly homogeneous rail surfing across the pack.

Rubbish. You have a transparent, enduring and unshakeable affection for the form. You are like one of those poor mutts that vivisectionists used to chop up who would sit there through the agony, licking the hands of their foul tormentor in dumb unquestioning loyalty. It's why your articles are such ...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

I dunno Nick. JJF has always struck me as having next to no competitive nous which, when combined with the average and unthreatening waves you get in the first two comps of the year, effectively neuters his most potent weapon - a vastly superior skillset in technical, frightening surf. As to the res...

Re: The Good Luck A Number One McCoy Thread

Don’t overthink it beany. They’re surfboard shaped surfboards that ride pretty much like any other surfboard. Width and thickness make them a stable platform and the soft rails mean they’re pretty forgiving. I’m not terribly convinced that the emperors new dome brings much to the party but they’re c...

Re: Where did you surf today ?

Fitbits etc provide the same illusion of competence to the amateur runner as multiboard quivers and a-finset-for-every-occasion do for the low intermediate surfer
