Steve, do you think my suggestion has merit?

Forgive me for not knowing what those mitigation methods might be. Nets as per other areas or targeted individuals? The trialled method failed miserably it seems.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

This is so reassuring as I'm going up there for the long weekend.
Do you think it was the same one going for a cruise up and back?
Maybe meeting up with a mate for coffee?

They can't be that endangered if they are continually mowing down surfers from Tweed Heads to Ballina. Guess they are cruising between the rivermouths.

Great whites, crocodiles and ill-informed politically correct do-gooders ... all protected and all now in plague proportions.

Don't worry BP I've just returned unscathed. Time in water: 4 seconds.

Drones will be there by that time or maybe just pay the commercial fisherman a bung to nab a few on the sly.

A rough, back of the envelope calculation, indicates a speed of 1200 km/h would be required to get between Lennox and Cape Byron in one minute.

Solution is obvious. Knock down the beach hotel. Build a bloody big abattoir with offal drain pipe out into the Bay and kill the occasional humpback and leave it for the local shark population to easily feast upon. Viola! No more big sharks be cruising any points further north or south of the now. Shark magnetic Butthole Bay. I call this my 'Back to the Future' strategy. Youse can all thank me later except if you are one of those who enjoy a morning swim from the pass to main beach. You may just have to learn to swim quicker.

That's a great pic Trev. WSL should have a pier break contest on tour not just Huntington beach. Any background on the surfer and year taken (photo that is not as in 'taken' by shark)?

The guy survived. He's 68 now (That would be me).
Byron Whaling Pier obviously before it was dismantled.
Probably 1966/67. We used to sleep in the car (FX Holden) and surf early, then drive back to the Goldie.

Today's NSW shark excitement courtesy of Dorsal and the Mike "we've been consulting with key stakeholders" Baird experience.
Boambee 7.55 am
Shelley 8.06 am
Treachery 9.06 am
Tyagarah 9.10 am
Ballina 9.14 am 1.7m tagged
Cape Byron 10.29 am
Suffolk Pk 10.34am
Cellito 11.11 am
Mungo brush 11.11am
Hawkes Nest 11.26am
Garie 12.07pm two sharks
Sharpes 12.25pm receiver pinged

Nowt else, pilots must have busted the fuel budget for the day.

IMO, the amount of close in sightings, on a clear day, very little recent rain, nice water conditions, might demand a rethink of the so called experts "dawn and dusk" theory.

Recently in WA they (sciency type people) have stated that there is no correlation that makes early morning, late evening, cloudy conditions, a more likely time for shark attacks.
