Re: DY Point tonight
Nice to meet you, shame the swell was on its last legs & the tide on the way out.
If there's nothing in the next 6 days, next full moon is the 30th August, will keep an eye out

Re: DY Point tonight
good to say gday also.
yep, wasn't really working was it. smallish receding swell folding over an exposed ledge. a couple of possible runs here and there for a boog, taking a highline, maybe. but nothing i could picture being able to set a proper line on a without either ripping the bottom of board to shreds or stopping dead and getting ragdolled over rocks.
more swell, more water over it, and it'd be viable.

Re: DY Point tonight
Absolutely
We need low-mid tide rising, or high tide dropping.
SW winds.
3 metre average, with 5 metre peak south swell at 10 seconds.
If the tides too high, then the waves just roll over the ledge without breaking properly or at all.
If the tides too low, then you can't sit on the peak, or have to sit quite wide. If it was daylight, you can spot the waves & the take off zone better - obviously its easier on a lid if you are a bit too deep, but on a board, if you're a couple of metres either side, its an exercise in fail & frustration.
I'll sacrifice a couple of boards & if Coops can sacrifice some prostitutes, we'll make it happen

Re: DY Point tonight
Bad luck guys. I was looking forward to hearing the war stories.
Re: DY Point tonight
Paddling out the way it was breaking it would've been nothing 'but' war stories.
May as well have been trying to surf on top of wet mangled concrete.
In the space of 50 mins, I saw just 'one' wave that didn't look like guaranteed carnage.

Re: DY Point tonight
Looks like it cleaned up a little bit for the early this morning.
@ChrisB - If we went out, we probably would have frozen to death before we could have reported back - got down to 6 degrees @ Terry Hills!

Nothing like a near life experience to bring some excitement to your day (night?)
Of course you do think about it, but you just have to park it.
As long as there are plenty of waves coming through, then you aren't sitting around worrying about things that probably won't happen...

Re: DY Point tonight
Tuesday night maybe, but not sure if the groundswell will get up to the minimum 3+ metre mark.
More chance Thursday night with the afternoon peak in swell size, but the moon will be down to ~60% mark.
