My feet always seem to be over the end of the tail, even though I use longer boards, so I knee it.

Toes on the tail. Because I surf boards with more foam and because I don't won't to damage the deck. I surfed with a Saffa bird who told me that duck diving with the foot is frowned upon in South Africa.

And if I was ever going to duck dive with my knee will be with my right because doing it with my left would feel unnatural. But then again, I kick a football with my right foot.

i use my knee when it's small waves. if i need to really down the periscope, it's the foot.

you can lean right back onto the tail of the board and push the nose so much deeper from said leverage and then drive that baby through all kinds of turbulence back to the top with the foot.

i can't see when waves are coming from the heavens how you could penetrate deeply enough with just the knee.

plus the knee depressions the board, the foot does not.

Atta boy Hatchie. What about when you're surfing razor sharp coral reefs or barnacle encrusted rocks slabs with only inches of water covering them?
Obviously you should all Eskimo roll like a core long boarder.
