custom wood fins?
Does anyone know of any Australian shapers/fin makers that do custom wooden fins, preferably bamboo?

Huie and josh Dowling do wood and wood composite.
I've got some and they are very lively
Bamboo is a grass and the grain might be an issue

thanks gents - i'll email Ron and PM Huie. The only reason i'm interested in bamboo is i recently chatted to a guy that has a 101 bamboo fin in his bonzer and claimed he would be buried with it...

Re: custom wood fins?
wooden fins seem like good DIY project.
Re: custom wood fins?
I have a True Ames bamboo fin and it does have more a lot more give than glass.
The 101s are hard to come by apparently and far from cheap.

i agree and i may dabble, but to be honest, i think it would take some time, patience and skill (none of which are in my bag of tricks).Bobby Dazzler wrote:wooden fins seem like good DIY project.
Hey Tootr - i've got a custom john cherry fin in my mlv bonzer and it kicks @ss. The problem is, it was really expensive. If i can't get something local, i might try one the rainbow bamboo fins - but i've heard mixed reports.

I've heard that as well that a bamboo centre fin is essential for a bonzer.

Re: custom wood fins?
Thanks for that. Does anyone know how to get in contact with John Devereux? The ol' google shows plenty of his quality fins - but no details....Slobadan Madicubich wrote:In the past it was JD.....John Devereaux.
