The first couple of waves, it's been a very long time but the board feels good. More waves needed.

I like the idea of a quad midlength with a pulled in round tail.

I'll soon take a pic of my favourite midlength, the Woosley vquad 7'6" with the new Webber/Soar flex fin quad set I received yesterday.
Pulled in round tail ahoy.

How do you reckon the Soar twin plus nubster would go with your old DVS 8' All rounder?

Since the eps/carbon construction with its thickness on the one I had likes to sit up on the water more I'd say the area of the fins wouldn't be enough to control it.

I have a 6'7 pulled in round tail quad with a really thin tail that is designed to cut into the water. It's nice Beery, 6'7 a bit short for a mid length but it works.

Mid lengths are only mini-mals if they are shaped like mals, and many are not.

A mini mal is a generic type board IMHO, designed for use by many different types of surfers, in a wide variety of waves, fun and versatile. A midlength is designed with people who can surf in mind, for a more specific type of wave range, and/or surfing.

Both are great IMHO.

Yeah, to be pedantic though midlength is a length, range, so semi guns, mini mals, and hulls etc etc are all subsets of 'midlength' if in the size range which I presume is 7 to 9 feet?

Good call, someone mentioned to me that the MR twins went well with it. From memory you had a lot of love for bonzer side bites ??

I don't think a mid length surfboard is defined by dimensions.

For me the definition is function - a mid length is a design with the maximum possible volume that can still be ridden like a shortboard i.e be able to duck dive, turn and trim without having to walk up and down.

Lengthwise most of them happen to be mid way between short board at 6' and long board at minimum 8' hence the rather vague "mid length"

Check this site. anything that doesn't have a parallel outline that isn't a fish would be considered to be a mid length.

I just scored myself a lightly used Fowler stoker v machine 6'6" which should be fun. Really nice foil and rails. Flat bottom through to significant v on out to the tail.
Here's my vquad 7'6" with the Webber flex fins fitted.

The rear quad fins have only one tab at the front which allows them to flex laterally (side to side).

Nice fins. Obviously McTavish Carvers were there first.

All of this is irrelevant unless u are wearing a beaver tail wetsuit or front zip wetsuit top :-D-:

Damn it you're right! And it will be too fricking cold where i'm surfing. Better put it away until summer.
