Haven't seen the last batch but it looked like it was a bit warm in the last one?
From your posts elsewhere I gather the crowd really picked up too, bummer.

Yeah, the forecasts are beyond useless and potentially dangerous.

That looked like a LOT of fun & I didn't see too many other tracks. Yep, I'm jealous.

I'm guessing you wear a helmet? Solo tree runs could be a bit risky if you clip a tree or worse, end up head first in a tree well. I managed to get 6 stitches in my noggin many years ago when I clipped a low hanging branch. Only wearing a beanie as helmets were (stupidly) only the domain of little kids.

Cheers, Legion, boo, Ron etc for the excellent advice earlier re skiing with kids. Probably got about 4 hours skiing in every day around the hot chocolate, lunch and sledging breaks and she was off the magic carpets and linking turns down an easy green by the end of day three, so happy days.

Take home message: Be nice, but not too nice

To tell the truth eggs are one thing I avoid buying when I’m grocery shopping. So you may say I’m an intermittent egg buyer who usually lets someone else buy them.

Where did you go?

Our trip seems an age ago. It was awesome but I don't have the withdrawal symptoms I normally have.

Les Menuires in France. We only had three days skiing so I only had one proper run and spent the rest of it teaching my kid and her cousin. Strangely enjoyable in a masochistic kinda way

Any recommendations in Europe for the first week of January?

Assume that we need to seek altitude that time of year.

Nah, not a mega resort.
Decent budget. We'll be over there so it's a side trip.
Country isn't that important, can get by in German and French, Dutch and Italian too depending on who joins us. One Swiss mate speaks about 10 languages including some Slavic options.
Was thinking Italy or Switzerland.

If we go Scandinavia we'll have snow but the terrain is a bit hohum. Plus drinking in Norway is 1% of 1% too.

boo, I go to Les Menuires in the 3 Valleys. It's by far the cheapest in the 3 Valleys (Val Tho, Meribel and Courchevel being the other main ones) but has the same access to the 600km + piste network. I quite often go over New Year and have always had snow, without fail. The resort is on the ugly side but getting better and there are plenty of places to eat in the evenings without breaking the bank and reasonable supermarkets if you want to eat in. If you can afford it, Meribel/Mottaret and Courchevel are prettier and have a more villagey feel but are heavy with the worst kind of English punters. (Braying Home Counties types). Val Tho is also nicer and higher but can be a bit bleak. Fairly easy access from several airports, including Geneva which is where I usually fly to. Lift pass for the whole area is about $350 per person for 6 days and there are quite a few free magic carpets too if your kids are beginners and/or want to go sledging
