Most people who forcefully advocate a free market would do pretty much anything they could to avoid one.

No but he does leave open the possibility of the RBA intervening to bring down the currency as the swiss did.

Our currency is being artificially inflated by xtraordinary stimulus monetary policy in the USA and Japan, which is holding their currency exchange rates at very low levels.

Which makes it great for aussies going to Bali or buying shitt from OS but disastrous for any trade exposed industry.

On balance we are worse off with a high dollar.

But I'm still going to keep buying my fishing gear from the states while it's high.

Don't you mean that you're still going to get people visiting the States (or Japan) to keep buying your fishing gear?

I'd guess the RBA is unlikely to intervene in the dollar, except through jawboning, until the big miners have creamed a bit more off their massive production upswing.

it's silly to intervene in the the dollar, it's supposed to swing for fcuk's sake. It's up as a counterweight. Pin it down and watch inflation go boom.

I am still extremely dubious about the supposed value of money in the US and by extension almost everywhere else. it's too goddam cheap.

Inflation is rising anyway.

RBA might have to slacken off on the inflation ambit otherwise soft demand and rising unemployment will be far bigger problems.

I might soon move to Tasmania and will need a new wetsuit.

Should I wait until I'm in Tasmania or buy a wetsuit before the move?

I imagine the retail prices may be higher in Tassi, but that there might be a better range of cold water wet suits on the shelves to try on which one fits well.

Thanks, Mik

Fly to the Santa Cruz prior and go to the O'Neil stores there, I picked up a GR8 for 120 US, if you can ignore the airfare, the quirkiness of Santa Cruz and the fact the GR8 is a piece of crap then you'll be swwwwweeeeeet.

Hows this, bought a brand new O'Niell Psycho 3 around 1.5-2 months ago.

Seams are already failing where they have the most strain put on them around the shoulders. One seam has split at the shoulder from all of the stretching that goes on during paddling to make a 0.5-1cm hole right through.

Not happy, the last O'Niell wetsuit I had lasted four seasons.

I had the same experience. In fact, I still have the O'Neill I bought in 1995 at Mona Vale. Just cut it down to a springy. But the next one I bought only lasted a couple of years - and that with running repairs.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

My psycho 2 was a great fit and warm in winter and tough as leather the 3 feels like a 2ml in cold water and split the rubber way to easily with a fin tip.

So, after my psycho 3 falling to bits after 2 months, luckily O'Niell are replacing it. The unlucky bit is supposedly there is a batch of Psycho 3's out there that were all lemons. The liquid seams (the black tar looking stuff) was dodgey and failed really early for a whole big batch. The new batch which has fixed this issue is coming out this month.

So, the moral of the story is, if anyone is about to buy a psycho 3, don't buy it unless its the new August 2014 stock.
