gives your incredible brain and neuro-muscular apparatus a chance to absorb the necessary information and make its incredibly detailed analysis which exists at a sub-conscious level.

Bollocks.
Feeling good under the arm means only that it feels nice to hold. Terrific if most of your surfing life is chatting to people in car parks, next to useless if it isn’t

bollocks right back at you.
You didn't engage with my point at all.
and your final 2 sentences make no sense. Unless you are handing the board around for the people in car parks to fondle.

Feeling good under the arm just means it feels like what you’re used to. Fine if you already like what you ride but pointless if you don’t

Just stop watching. It is an anti-spectacle and should be treated as such

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Like there’s been two international surfing events in the past three weeks. One was run over 10 days in a pretty shitful if powerful Japanese beachie, featured 52 countries, endless loser’s rounds and whole heats where people couldn’t stand up, attended by thousands of stoked people most of whom hadn’t surfed a day in their lives, the vision was not great and occasionally a bit dizzy making, it rained, and the whole thing was won by a guy who almost didn’t make it to his first heat and had to borrow a board.
The other is this thing, three days of a complete artifice fuelled by incredible sums of money, run under relentlessly sunny skies, exclusionary to the point of not letting the public in for opening day, manicured and happy clappied to death, featuring the best competitive surfers on earth bar none.
Which one is more relatable? Which do you reckon will leave the surfers feeling the most buzzed?

Like I think the pool is potentially an amazing setting for a major pro event, even now! Just in a potentially really raw way. Tooth and nail shit.
But the pros would have to buy into it, Gabby style, and they haven’t because they don’t like the place, and they sense its dislocation from the surfing world, how it’s just not relatable to actual surfers. Like they all go home and talk to their mates and get the thumbs down on the joint, and it confirms their own instincts.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
surfing's dead fellas. it's just reality.
... meanwhile skating continues to rise like the fallen phoenix. this week in the 10ft pool with about two and a half of feet vert, i touched the coping on my 8.0 rodriguez running 54mm wheels. no helmet, no pads. possibly reckless.
when i got out a few young pros from the local shop were telling me how one of their pro mates was in the pool a while back and broke his wrist so bad the bones were sticking out. i'm not sure i'll go in that pool again. haha
i can't remember the last time surfing stoked me out like that.

I don’t understand. Don’t you surf for how it makes you feel? How can your ‘stoke’ levels be affected by whether surfing is cool or not?

What about a top 10 only event, before the final event of the season.
Let em practice all week but don’t broadcast it then do it all in one day.
