Re: Just general surfing stuff
BTW riding a fast smooth board that effortlessly transitions and has a velvety cut back will always get the interest of most Sydney surfers. People seem to be intrigued by these basic qualities, prolly because it's pleasing to the eye and makes an average surfer look competent as compared to well you know ...performance boards for the 5% that can ride them well.

Those new reverse vees appear to have been getting some rave reviews.
Re: Just general surfing stuff
Thud, I think you mean silky, not velvety.

Nobody gives the master any board review advice. Ignore them AJ
Re: Just general surfing stuff
Buttery, now there's a word. A perfect adjective to describe the alteration of a surfboards projection.

Ummm most good performance surfboards are fast, smooth, transition effortlessly and can perform cutbacks both velvety and precise.Thud wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 9:05 amBTW riding a fast smooth board that effortlessly transitions and has a velvety cut back will always get the interest of most Sydney surfers. If they didn't, people wouldn't ride 'em.
The board AJ rode was a v solid performance surfboard, capable of all kinds of crazy shit. But! It's made from a very high quality PU blank with a wood centre stringer and good epoxy resins, and was hand finished by the designer.
You think pro surfers ride those bs things you see in the shops wth their pretend carbon and greasy blanks and soft dead rocker lines? ha ha ha. Pro surfers ride fantastic boards that anyone on this forum could also ride, to whatever level of ability they may possess, other than trev or Polebean who are a bit old for that shit.

Wrong again, Nick. I would rip the bag out of it on one of those tiny little slivers. Actually I admire your huge vote of confidence in the surfing ability of the rest of the crew.

I have to agree with that.
In the last 6 months I've ridden a Toledo board and an Italo Ferriera board and have a freshly waxed Medina stick waiting to ride.
they all went sick, sized to the dims I like to ride.

Downwind today, Hawaii Kai to Outrigger, last real hit out before Molokai
It's sooo warm here, taking some getting used to. I think the Sth Shore is warmer than the North, water temp and sun exposure is heavy.

I actually wore a baseball cap with the bill turned backward, how about that?
Fast! I'm starting to loosen up and acclimatise. 5min 20sec kilometres without really trying. A couple of the superstars were down around 5min. It's such a beautiful run, open water for six k then you come to Diamond Head and all these reefs which you kinda dodge on the way through. Then a smooth 3k run down to the Outrigger.

All this Molokai malarkey.......do you bankroll this yourself Nick, is this a hobby?
Or is there some form of sponsorship......some kind of business case.
It can't be cheap in terms of time and money to do it every year.
