Enjoying quads at the moment......though not yet this week.
What the fcuk does that mean Beany? Does everything have to be a compromise?
I surf a quad exclusively, meaning i can never be bothered to change up the fin configuration and the quads seem to work in the board i ride, i think, so that's how it rolls. They cost a fcuking bomb too, jesus fins are expensive. They look boss though, they're DHD large and mostly black. I'm a fan of large fins. The quads make the board feel like it has fins, which is important. The fins also hold the board through turns so it doesn't skip out, which is also important. So i have the very best of everything, fins that hold the board through turns and they look good too. I'm not sure if 4 fins is better than 3 fins but it is certainly more than 3 fins, which must account for something.

I'm same as you BD. but my quad fins are pretty small. But they hold so I'm fine with that.

Obviously the centre fin provides more lift and drive in a straight line, but this is rare as most surfing is just pumping turn to turn for speed.
This doesn't make sense to me. Definitely not obvious.
I thought it was the opposite - drag and pivot.

I still feel like I go faster in a straight line on quads than thrusters, channel bottoms excepted.
Unscientific I know.

Went out too late mainly to give the new steamer a run. Steamer good.....surf crap. Bronte looked way better but there was a comp on.

Was down the beach seeing the doc to get a flu shot. There was the odd decent looking big left in amongst the close outs.

Had an awesome surf in the outer bays at Noosa.
Low and genial crowd, whistle clean, 2-3 foot.
Quad egg, 1960s Noosa template, wood skins, modern contours. Ran some smaller fins all round (hand foiled glass) and it was a revelation.
Got 3 absolute crackers. One top 20 at least, if not top 10. 8 or 9 turns into the next bay.
Fcuk.
I'm supposed to be giving up surfing, not rekindling a love affair.
