ps I think pro surfing is exciting for a viewer at a certain time in the viewer's life. Like for a Brazilian viewer, this is possibly the most exciting time ever. For an Australian, possibly not. For many people their memories of when pro surfing was great tend to coincide with a time when they were young and pretty carefree, surfing a lot and just open to it. Later on their view of things may have changed, and they begin to see it as boring, it doesn't fill the same space in their heads.

We judge pro surfing, just like the judges do, and even more subjectively.

Professional surfing contests have never been exciting to watch Nick. Or at least not from the plebs' side of the velvet rope they haven't.

Until such time as we can transition fully to wave pools they should give them a maximum of two waves per heat, tow them in with jetskis, tow them back out with jetskis. Bish bash bosh, the whole thing's wrapped up in a couple of hours

To tell the truth eggs are one thing I avoid buying when I’m grocery shopping. So you may say I’m an intermittent egg buyer who usually lets someone else buy them.

I'd be surprised if it's young people that watch the WSL. From my experience, some young people might follow surfers on instagram, they might visit an event for some celebrity spotting, but they are not going to sit and watch WSL heats because it's BORING.
That’s the reason the surfing stars might have half a million instagram followers and only 5 thousand watching their WSL heats.

Looking a bit wild this morning. Lots of wind. Probably only gonna get worse. Challenging looks to be the word of the day.

wasn't the forecast a 35+kt sideshore?

that'll turn bells into a wonky, sectiony glorified closeout, yeah?

Hmmmm, big swell for Bells?

Surf forecast is calling 2000kJ at 10am, 4500kJ at 4pm, and peaking at 6000kJ (10') tomorrow at 7am but dropping off quickly.

I'm not familiar with Bells but on the Bukit that is a pretty average dry season forecast with a relatively short time above 4000kJ. Best described as an unremarkable small window of solid swell with adverse winds.

50 year storm and their websites not fccckn working. Anyone would think they had hired shearer to run the fccckn thing.

are they still doing away with skis in 2-man heats?

if so, today will consist of heats with 90% paddling.

Very big this morning on the Mornington Peninsula and it is only going to build too.

Windy but the Westerly direction will be okay for Bells

Dear God, I'd love to see someone riding a 7ft board out there drawing some big, authoritative lines.

Drailed, do you realise they don't show the live broadcast on the website anymore?
