East is better for that particular spot IMHO. The lefts down the beach can probably hold more size than the point in really big conditions if anyone was up for a long sharky paddle. Double overhead would be pushing it for the point. There's somewhere else around there that I would love to check out in those conditions however.

I think I know where you are talking about BP. Could be all time! I'll get my mate to confirm over the weekend
Re: Just general surfing stuff
TC Oma possibly crossing the coast in Southern QLD.
Is this gonna be a bomb, bank destroying, outta control swell up there?

Re: Just general surfing stuff
North of Coffs, Friday 4'+ from the east and NE, distinctly different swells; Saturday building swells from NE and ESE to 4-6'+; Sunday NE swell declining, more powerful E and ESE swells filling in, dangerous surf conditions, 4-8'
Down here in Sydney, Friday leftover SE swell and pulses from the ENE to 3'+; Sat building swell from E and NE along with short interval SE swell building rapidly late; Sunday solid 4-6'+ SE swell with layered E and NE swells underneath it.
TBH I think the follow up SE groundswell on Monday and Tuesday from the fetch that's progged to form near NZ will way out-do TC Oma from most of NSW. TC Oma is going to really fcuk up the Goldie and the Sunny Coast big time. If you're up there, better surf a lot on Friday.

Beans if you fly up, paddle out, and post footage of your set wave at Kirra, Iggy would have to quit the internets.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Hey does anyone know anybody in Norway?
The Norwegian government's energy company Statoil, using a subsidiary known as Equinor, has announced its intention to begin exploration oil drilling in the Great Australian Bight within six weeks.
People in those parts have been fighting proposals to drill in the Bight for years and it seemed like they were winning, but this is serious shit. The company's own charts of projected oil spill contamination covers every part of the Australian mainland coast south of around 30 degrees S, yeah that includes Sydney, Bells Beach, Cactus, Margaret River, every fcuking where.
This shitty Federal Govt with its moronic ideological insistence on shredding the environmental fabric of Australia only has three months to live, but if Statoil gets its teeth on those leases, it won't matter.
Norwegian citizens need to know what its government owned enterprise is planning to do and exactly what we think of it. They can pressure their Govt into backing down here.
You can yell at Equinor directly, just look 'em up, but the more Norwegians yell at 'em the better.

No I don’t. But Joel Stevenson (brother of Jason of JS surfboards) now lives and surfs there. He’d be fairly plugged into both the Norwegian and Aussie surf community.
I dunno. Could coastalwatch or swellnet get in touch with him, raise the issue and help drive the campaign locally and abroad, meanwhile giving Joel some exposure?

Yeah I'll be going down that road for sure. There's a lot of surfers in Norway.

If you wanna make your own voices heard, the best way is to go to the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority's website and follow the link to where you can register your thoughts on the environmental plan filed by Equinor.

I know some Wegis. I'll check the pulse of public sentiment.
I'm also part of a group that has been opposing oil drilling in the Bight for the last 3 years at least.
Our board members have met with the federal environment Minister a few times to point out the flaws.
I'll raise it again.
BTW, 2 points about influencing political decisions.
To get to the person who makes a decision you have to go through the gatekeepers. These are (increasingly) not policy people but political appointees and social media managers.
They have a general rule of thumb that something becomes an issue after 3 points of contact. Ie Facebook, a letter and an email, or something getting on radio or TV.
So use multiple different modes of communication to target politicians.
Also, because of caretaker conventions, you only have to disrupt federal processes until mid April at the latest. After that the parliament has to be dissolved in order to meet the legislated election timeframes and deadlines.
