I love it when I pull up to check the surf and it's knee high and the pack is 300m further out from where the waves are breaking waiting patiently
Ditto, so ,many of those sessions a few weeks ago on this cracking bank, 80% of the blokes waiting for the sets of 3 which came every 20 mins. Inside ones walled up down the bank

If only there was some sort of measurement of wave energy you could use as a gauge.
Crabmeats penis is the new standard that I'm working on. This one has real potential. We're looking to roll it out later this year, it's currently in advanced testing in Thailand and other significant locations.

Shearer is trialing it as we speak. This is gonna be big!

Super fun head-high peaks at Curly. Really weird, warbly but heaving and very consistent. Best waves I’ve had at Curly in years. Bugger all people to start with but word obviously got out.

Sounds like you did ok. Maroubra, chest to head high and clean. But a wobbly fat and slow swell. Lumpy and hard to get any drive out of it. Super crowded.

Apparently there’s a couple of spots on the NB’s that are pumping. With crowds to match. Swellnet’s put the word out.

Surfed Curly yesterday and was surprised at the pace of the waves once up and running

Mid Manly was pumping just after lunch with the offshore wind. Got crowded very quickly.

Yesterday was pretty solid in the morning, regular double overhead, some double and a half, but one seven wave set - just failed to make it over the first so got the whole lot on the head.

Waves were wonky though and closing out. Caught 5 or 6, 50m rides, just one for 100m. Gave up after an hour and a half.

Today was rare head and a half but perfect conditions. Got one 300m ripper, but the others were close outs.

Swell is on the way down now.

How are you feeling?
By the way, have you ever played a game called Surakata?

I am feeling quite chilled and relaxed, listening to an Hawaiian Cafe Music mix on a first floor balcony surrounded by trees, cool breeze, and a few mates.

Surakarta? No. Good idea though, we'll make up a board right now and give it a go.

Paddling out for a quiet session this morning, as I got closer there seemed to be quite a few female surfers ripping it up, closer still and there were three photographers in the water and about ten of the best female surfers, plus the hot expats who usually surf there when it breaks.

It was an orderly lineup though and they let me get some waves, half a dozen over two hours, only one was really good.

Bethany Hamilton rips.

South facing reef, inconsistent chest to head high but fun when they came through. Lefts were pretty fat but the rights had a nice wackable bowl.

She sure does. I have some footage of her surfing macaronis from 2006. She had a handle on the front of her board then which she used to grab and push down to help get entry into waves. She had late takeoffs mastered.
