Only "correct" because above I gave a link to the Pacific instead of the Indian ocean animations.

I know, but it gives a clear dynamic visual image of the typical swell movement paths and decay: that is primarily to the E, less to the ENE (Perth to Qhoba), even less to the NE (Bali) and very little to the NNE (Ments).

As an aside I believe the primary factor in swell forecasting is the same as for weather forecasting, that is computing power. I think the relationship is something like if you double the processing power you can add 10% to the forecast accuracy.

Just your dignity ?

They issue a 30 day visa on arrival for free so there's nothing to pay.
If you have more than 3 boards they might try to argue you are importing them to sell.

Make sure you have a clean page in your passport, if not you'll be refused entry. Offering lots of cash may help, sometimes not.

Surf-forecast on Wed says Iceland, which looks like one of the most exposed reefs in the Mentawaiis is less than 400kj all day.
Ulus peaks at just under 4000kj on the same day.

That surely can't be right.

Maybe it is?

Does Bali get that much more swell than the Ments?
I surfed Icelands at 8ft where nearby breaks were 4. It really picks up swell. Not just a directional thing.

a) Iceland barely breaks at 8'
b) It's a long interval spot, it dwindles when the interval drops below 17sec.

Not a great guide to the average surf size in the Mentawai chain. There's hundreds of spots up there facing every which way. Iceland's neighbour Teles is a better guide.

I dunno about the retard copy cat forecast sites but that was some good wind around the low near Heard Island a couple days ago, should be fun as shit. Lance's left in that swell angle v charming.

I've started using lances left as the proxy spot to check.

Its cool, I must have been completely wrong, as were the people who had been living and surfing there for 10 years.

Carroll proven get again that even though he has dedicated his life to surfing, he is still a bit of a kook.
