4th day in a row of abject, unsurfable flatness. the road is calling me. might load up the van and go on a pilgrimage, south.

It was pretty chunky yesterday. If you were prepared to take the sets on the head there were some decent waves.

So getting back to wave measurements. The Balinese...and cranky can correct me if I'm wrong....use the length from your elbow to your middle finger as a unit of measurement when they build someone's house. So the number of units remains the same but the actual house is built to scale for the individual. This could be used for waves. Someone who's 5'3" would be riding a bigger wave than someone 6'3" riding the same wave. Probably easy to punch these stats into a computer these days for comps.

What Coastalwatch said... 3-4 foot
What Swellnet said... 3-4 foot
What the beach said... 3-4 foot (6-8 faces)
Meanwhile on www.senilesurf.com report, with 32 nationwide readers, half of whom are already dead (but still logged in) reads...
“6-8 foot and pumping this morning! I haven’t been this excited since the wishbone ash concert at Kingscliff Bowls in 1971 when sally got her bang bangs out! Hoooweeee !
I watched johhno snare a sneaky outside bomb from outside wide on the back button. He came flying in past all the pesky hotdoggers, then tried to hang 10 but the wave closed out because this isn’t crescent heads, and now his boards is in two pieces. Bummer.
Ps: johhno wants to know if anyone has tips on how to tie a legrope string?

Re: Where did you surf today ?
It's smaller than yesterday and I wouldn't call it 6-8ft faces then. Bit of over calling there?
Waiting for a bit more water on the bank before I go out.
*Note: don't usually take a mal out at this size......unless it's Crescent Head....or Noosa. Then I might.
It's funny....everyone has a bit of a laugh about wave scales.......except one guy who really takes it seriously.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
It’s a day for spots like green island, merewerther, Ulladulla bombie. Not garie, nor Bondi, nor much of anywhere. Though while it wasn’t ideal (straight south swell) it was uncontested. Mostly empty. Fast, shifty, but still managed to pick off a fair share of decent shouldering ones. A late drop to cover up on my wave in. More than happy with what I got.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
It was fun. All it needed was a few degrees of east in the swell and it would’ve been a whole different picture.
