Waves you've seen but never ridden.
Okay, a few recent reports on the mid north coast reminded me and in one case made me aware of a wave that Ive thought about surfing but have never scored.
Stuff like Jefferies Bay for someone my vintage and a natural is obvious. As is Honolua Bay but there's lots of others.

I know exactly what you mean beany, Jefferies, Honolua, Jaws, Shipsterns, Skeleton Bay,there are many, but there's really only one spot that every surfer, whether he's a 12 year old pimply faced California Trestles grommet or a grizzled 250 pound Hawaiian Sunset hellman, hopes to one day, somehow, get to

Re: Waves you've seen but never ridden.
The question is....will this little beauty peel for 500 metres or is this actually the whole bit before it closes out?
The thing that actually prompted my idea for this thread was a wave I saw at Forster 25 years ago. Was even about to paddle out to catch one just on dark that day. Another wave never broke that day and I have never seen the place look like breaking ever again.
I recently found out it actually is a rare break that hardly ever breaks. One day maybe. Worked out it needs a Big North Swell.

I saw a wave when I was fishing once, and waited 17 years for the right conditions to surf it.
As far as I know it only broke twice in that time and I was unable to get there both times.
Took 36 hours travel, much of it unpleasant.
Caught 3 waves, just started to suss the place out, and a school of feeding sharks took over the lineup. By the time they left the tide had changed.

Seen the inside of the Richmond river on the south wall have some really nice waves a few times now on solid swells.
Never seen anyone surf it.

There's an absolutely mental double sided coral reef on the SW side of Madagascar, I've been watching it for seemingly ever on satellite. the left looks a bit better wind-wise than the right but man.

Saw a wave that seemed to line up from a headland near Bonnie Hills and connect right through to the main beach in maxing out conditions about three years ago.

Re: Waves you've seen but never ridden.
Saw on wave on the nullabour plains each time I travelled across. Looked about five or so feet and peeling forever. It was a good 2 km down a steep hill to get to it and it’s always left me wondering if it is ever surfed. Somehow I doubt it very much. If only I was younger and just travelling across with a mate, sure it would be a incredible experience
no, Im not a surfer, Im just a garbage man".

Neilsen Park. I've body boarded it with my son when he was much younger and watched it quite a few times. Nice set up over a shallow sandstone, barnacle encrusted rock shelf.
