Was surprisingly sizy this morningNick Carroll wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 5:48 pmWaves were really really good today. Clean till 2pm and solid mixture of ESE and ENE. Then surged later into a bit bigger and more direct. NE wind wrecked it a bit though

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Went for a run....should have chucked the board in. Saw someone get a barrelling right as I pulled up. Very rare indeed. Saw someone get a coverup on a left while I was running. Saw heaps of smack downs plus one broken board....plus a euro backpacker with the best set of tits I've seen in a long while frolicking in the surf....and that's saying something at Bondi.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Paddled out on Thursday arvo late after debating the situation. I did get one miserable wave and managed to avoid being run over or running over someone.
I was telling someone about it yesterday and realised I'm Fcuking crazy thinking I would snare a wave with 150 people in the water and onshore conditions. Particularly when half of them were learners. Guess Im an eternal optimist.

Up the beaches. Water crystal clear, bath warm, minimal crowds, and a fun swell.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Temples as usual, twice. Glassy when I checked it, onshore when I got out. No other takers
Glassy in the arvo. Two of us surfed hollow waves 1-2', breaking in less than 1' of water. Tide dropped further, too low for me after 2 hours - shitty walk in over the reef

Great looking swell. Drove down to Bondi as a solid set closed out the full length of the beach. Went out at Bronte but there were too many close outs as well.

Long Reef, really fcken good this morning. And crowd was pretty limited so plenty of waves to go around.
Wind took the gloss off it around midday.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Late session. Left reef point south of Sydney. Thumpy head and a half high plus.
Surfed the 6’4 rounded pin single. Felt smooth, held in tight.
Took a couple of the sets, but they were mostly buckling back in on themselves due to the straight south swell. It needs east.
The smaller waves in between had a much better shape, constant bowl with a longer run so picked off a bunch of them.

I don't think ol' Sharkies has looked as good as it did today in months. Years, even. Perfect. Biggest and best spot on the coal coast I reckon! I had to take my boy to a 6 year old birthday party there. Took my board.
Best party ever!

The farm on a hot Sunday morning with thousands of others. Was some OK waves about but very heavy traffic. Best ones were on the inside when teaching Mrs Beerfan, no dodging people required. Went out the back when she'd had enough but gave up after a longboarder speared it right in front of me and just body bashed with the kids.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Checked the surf at 6am, 1-2' max, went home to wait for the reef to get a little water over it.
Back at 8am 2-3' glass, fast and hollow. 10 out, increasing to about 20 by 10am.
When I came in there was a saffa with a dislocated knee being helped up the steps by his mates.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
had a body surf at newcastle beach today. It's somewhat like the bondi of Newcastle geographically i guess. There was a sum total of 20 guys spread over 4 different peaks, both reefs and sand banks. Lovely little 2 ft swell and offshore. Felt like Bondi 40 years ago, but better.

The Farm is the Illawarra's Byron Bay. Last Sunday, four vans had parked across several parking spots down in the front carpark and the ranger was down there lecturing them. Another group were playing a ukulele around a fire (illegal in a state park). I watched Irish tourists let beautiful Mctavish boards (without legropes) careen into swimmers. 80% of the surfers don't actually catch waves. I find the place fascinating.
Have torn my rotator cuff and couldn't surf on the best weekend in ages.
