Yeh, took me about three surfs to get my head around it.
Actually not sure if I've got my head around it, but I can surf it pretty good now without thinking about it.

Same for me when I first got it. Didn't help that the surf was a fair bit meatier than I expected first up. On cutbacks, I'd almost forgotten how much fun they are on a twin

Nice turn but he's not moving much water. Just a little foam spray (jokes)

He's a noted power surfer. Free surfing on a rippable beast. It's rare.

I'm talking across the board. Thruster cutties look lite and easy to me. Maybe they don't like the rail engagement.

Get someone to take a vid of you doing your best one and post it on here.

Let realsurf judge. Nick posted a surf ranch clip and I'm sure we were all encouraging and supportive.

He's on a CI Black Beauty in that pic.

You first. God touched a nerve. But of course I knew I would. Sensitive old blokes on thrusters being told they don't turn off the rail usually gets a bite. Lol

I live on the northern beaches so I'll keep an eye out for the tri fin with Channels. Won't be hard to spot. And your turns better be awesome cnt.

But just on this topic, if someone says a board design isn't as effective as another why do people start spazzing out?

Im stirring the pot of course. I ride a tri fin (xfc) but have been think a lot about cut backs of late. But surfed a twin on holidays and enjoyed the cuttie.

I've seen far more flat, flubbed and multi-stage cutbacks by kooks on fishes than on HP shorties.

And the worst board by far for a proper soap around the bath tub cutback is a twin fin.

You reckon? I'm talking all different types of boards not just twins. You don't think the cut back is a lost art for the HPS?

negatory.

You want a guy for whom a proper cutback is a lost art?

Dave Rastovich.

Why? The twin fin.

No way!! What's your problem with Rasta, he surfs great.

Best board for power cuttie. Tri, Single, Widow Maker?

All 3 are good at them and better at them than a fish.

I believe the very best cutbacks ever performed by a human being have been done by Tom Curren on a flatter, wider thruster.

as seen in Searching for Tom Curren.

He was on a quad at J bay ( although debatable) I believe, and a 5'7 fish at Bawa.

Here's one for you. I think older (over 35) average surfers surf HPS like fish. Not moving enough (in the right way) , surfing flat, trimming and pretty much trying to cut back because they missed the best part of the wave with a slow pop. That's cool I guess, but why not just surf a fking fish!!

Actually I getting off topic.
