I had a little splash and giggle at one of the beachies this morning.

Surfed with a bloke, mate of mine, who helped pull tadashi out.
It fcuked him up for quite a while.
PTSD.
Quit surfing.
Really blew out.

This was a guy who was ultra keen, shaper, martial arts etc etc.

I saw him this morning he looked like a scrub bull coming off the Barkeley Tableland after the wet season. Huge, ripped.
He was shredding. It was really good to share the space with him.

We were surfing where a 4m white was tagged a couple of days before and were trying to decipher the mystery of why the big whites seem to be around here in summer. It makes no sense on the face of it.
Big temperate water fish that preys on mammals skulking around in piss warm water.

No theories here.

Dolphins or stingrays....but yeah, you would have to think only dolphins would have the calorific pay-off for the hunt.

I don't think White pointers bear thinking about too much. There doesn't seem to be anything predictable about their patterns or behaviour.
Mate who worked in the Gulf in NT used to see them occasionally, which everyone will argue is BS, but it's not.
Shark plane is circling out off my beach right now as I type, a daily event.
Couple of fun things on this FB page if you scroll down, big bitey eating a Hammerhead, and further down a 100Kg Bronzey turned into a 50Kg Bronzey.

But it would take just about zero energy to chomp half a dozen humans. Maybe digesting such a bony low-fat prey is the problem? I hope so.

Nah, some pretty big Rays out there and easy prey for a GW.

Conditions today didn't justify getting sun on the skin, that's for sure.

Speaking of which.....I don't get how people feel comfortable surfing in those bucket surf hats. I've got one and it's really handy for being on boats or other water related activities but shite to surf in. I've got an O&E cap that's pretty great. Short brim that doesn't wipe all the zinc off your nose every time you duck dive like other caps. Still a bit annoying but doable if the surfs not too large and powerful. I avoid caps unless it's fierce. Would have worn mine yesterday however if it was in the car.

Yeah.

I have a bucket hat. Only use it if I surf in the middle of the day. Have to tip it back when paddling though or it interferes with my sight along the wave before I get up.
Mostly I surf early morning so it's not necessary.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

What a hoax of a swell this is thus far.

Some fun full ones at dawn, it was trying to do something but just didn't have the grunt.

Correct. I had dreamed of surfing the exotic location for years. Tales of "rip bowls" and "fast little runners" seemed like an impossible fantasy. So close....so much better than Bondi. Alas, it was all just a fantasy conjured up by a master storyteller.
I must return, crestfallen, to the newly appreciated barrels of Bondi.

If you still can’t figure out where to surf and when after all these years then you’re a waste of space and you should simply give up and dedicate all your leisure time to destroying yourself on cheap Aldi liquor.

Today’s there’s some fun bowls about. Just about to head out now.
