95% (that's a guess) of people in Ballina use the ferry and it's a fair bit out of the way.

Do many people still paddle the Clarence these days.

So to summarise, the excuses alakaboo has come up with so far for his surfing crime of not paddling to TOS.

1) He's always paddled before
2) His mate is unfit and offered to pay
3) 80% of the others didn't paddle
4) ‪so many dangerous rich cnuts in big boats.‬
5) ‪That's right, Womble! That's right! It was the weekend! ‬So special conditions would apply.

Give it up, mate. You know what you did. You held up the white flag.
You officially gave up the dream of being a gritty waterman.
Just mentally accept what your body knows. That you are middle-aged, well-off, white collar worker who enjoys his comforts and would really rather go by boat.
Wait til our resident waterman Loofy reads about what ‘boo did.

North curl curl. Waist high shore breaks on a building wind swell.

Has anyone here surfed the rare left that breaks inside the Southport seaway? Remember seeing a clip of it on brownies coastwatch early 90’s at double overhead. Big yawning barrels.

Only fault with that assessment is that I'm not middle aged yet.

I said earlier I'd prefer to take the boat next time, it was a much better experience all round. Though he should offer some cut up pineapple and papaya like in Indo, maybe some sports drinks and some hologram bracelets.
Obviously others agree, though that wasn't an attempt at justification, more my surprise.

I know what I am, foamy, and I'm fine with that.
If it helps, I also got sunburnt on the top of my head because my hair is thinning.

Brownie would be willing to sell Coastwatch at the right price.

Not to be confused with Coastalwatch.

Nah mate, south of Wollongong. Rarely surf midday or weekends and realised why, jam packed for shoulder high averageness. Just pushed my daughter onto some whitewater, she trimmed across the face a few times for the first time. Pretty cool!! Mrs. beerfan had a go as well, not the best conditions but fun on a hot day. Then body surfed a few.

Had to look out for surfers coming right into the shore and trying aerials right in front of swimmers and just generally kicking their board in front of them lol. A few had a bit of awareness but lots didn't.

Fking hate douches who go for aerials in crowded surf. I hope they have surf career ending injuries as young as possible.

Worst was a bloke coming in. Gut sliding, which was sensible, until right near the shore, about 5m away from a 10yr old kid, tried to pop up in the whitewater and his board goes flying and spears the water about a metre from the kid. I made sure to keep at eye out after that. Generally it was blokes finishing their wave and just falling back and letting the board shoot forward, around 3-4m where people were standing. Not in the flags sure, but Jesus, a little common sense wouldn't hurt.

Ditched the board I was riding for the last year for my 6'3" Simon Anderson Mollusc today and caught the most number of waves in ages.
That'd probably float me. The mollusc gets a pretty good review just about everywhere, what do you think of it ?

Racecourse Reef on Friday. Occasional head high sets. About eight people in the water.
Crappy surf near Manyana yesterday and a marginally better one this morning.

Although over the holiday period, it irritates me (as a surfer) when swimmers come in and play around 10m in front of the breaking wave and the pack of surfers. Its like they dont realise a surfboard in the hands of a holiday surfing cube monkey might occasionally not be entirely under control. Talking of the Sth Coast, middle of Mollymook (near the rocks) and the north end of Narrawallee and particularly bad for this, because the flagged areas are too far away for people to walk (i mean, its at least 400m) or its near a car park.

Common sense on both sides.

The general lack of awareness on both sides can be staggering. Plus the deer in the headlights syndrome when they actually notice a surfboard coming towards them.
