When Steve interrupts his fishing and surfing lifestyle in Lennox to have a family holiday in Point Plomer where he hopes to do a lot of fishing and surfing, I wonder if Lennox locals refer to this as Steve's busman's holiday.steve shearer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2017 8:58 amAnyway, packing for Plomer now so probably no surf today.
Where did you surf today ?

Arvo session south end corner. Were still some fun overhead bowls with good push and wall to tear down, but the wind has killed it now
Re: Where did you surf today ?
There are some sensational banks still around. Paddled out in what looked like onshore mush this morning and watched a guy pick off (admittedly the only one I saw) a very round tube. Travelled 3 or 4 seconds behind the curtain and kicked out. I didn't get anything that resembled that.

Longy late morning. It was the full summer disaster

The alley for the arvo shift, pushing kids (mine and some extras) onto half-foot rollers on the inside.
I'm knackered from dragging and chasing them all over the bank, they had a blast.
Went out and tried to catch a few myself afterwards, but the howling wind and ferocious ebb tide weren't doing the weak windswell any favours.
Got one decent one and one ok one.
The local lasses sure had their cans out. Bikinis are one of the things that make me appreciate the French.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
just had one of those super competitive beachie sessions. an unreal bank, one of the best i've ever seen on the goldy. 2-3 foot and peeling like trestles. a bit of water moving for the size – a testament to how shallow it was, i guess. couldn't stop paddling and jostling for position or you were toast.
there were about 30 guys on it, all hungry for waves. normally i'd flag those kinda crowds, but this morning i just went fuck it. paddled straight up the guts of the peak and sat deeper than everyone. didn't wait my turn at any point and just grabbed a dozen or so waves from taking off deep.
amazingly, not at any stage did anyone even give me a hint that they were considering dropping in on me.
this might be my new crowded surf tactic

When in doubt of all who surround you ... go deeper.

There was some bloody fun peaks about this morn. Crystal blue water, light offshore. Lots of fun in the sun.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Didn’t consider travelling 10 mins further south for a kilometre long beach with a variety of peaks ?

Nah. Had a swim with the missus. I'm over crowds......and driving. I can imagine it was just as crowded at the Bra.
Bondi is a kilometre long beach.

Today
"Fun size waves pushing into Maroubra with 3ft+ sets out of the east-northeast and peaky. The wind isn't ideal but conditions are worth a paddle, while Bondi is a complete choppy mess and smaller."

1 foot windswell at Agnes with the kids on their new foamies.
They're decent enough as far as foamies go, but God they suck compared to a proper board.
