Music is healing in much the same way that immersion in the ocean is.

It stems from my Cretan (Sfakia -look 'em up) ancestry.

Could you visit Da Cat's grave and pay respects for me while you're in Californiay?

Footage of Renato Hickel, WSL dude surfing Kelly's pool.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPmsr-yMwzg

As a competent but obv's recreational surfer.....he makes the wave look pretty ordinary.

he's not even surfing, really. no attempt to stall and get covered up. just trimming. maybe there's a backstory there, like he's surfing with a torn achilles tendon, or was knee-capped the night before with buckshot from an old duck hunting rifle someone found?

... anyway, that's good contrast right there, shep. that wave looked like high tide alex headland, but going left, not right.

Maybe his mission was a full length ride.
The wave still looks pretty sensational given that the wind is onshore.

It's very, very rare that I see a surf video and think I could surf better than that.
Even when it's preceded by 'look at this fcuking kook, why would you upload this shit?!'

But I think this might be one of those times.

You think so?

It looks boring to me, and he looks bored riding it. Which I suspect will be the achilles heel of pools.

To succeed they need a large pool of repeat customers prepared to pay and pay and pay. If people get bored and decided ocean surfing is a better deal than wavepools will wither and die.

As a standalone commercial proposition, I remain sceptical and surfing the wave does not much interest me.
The 15 year old me would have frothed to ride it, I reckon.
I would be delighted if such a wave wrapped around a secret local point.

That session is still being spoken about in hushed tones to this day.

It looks like the power has been dialled back a bit, not as hollow as the pro's surf it?
