^^ Yeah thanks. It's actually coming up to a year ago things started going badly downhill, and didn't let up for about 4 months. I'm determined not to let it happen again

I always figured they feed on similar fish so if there's dolphins there'd be sharks too. Do they bugger off when the dolphins are around? (I feel I should know more about this but to be honest I never really thought much about sharks until the regular attacks started a few years ago).

Disclaimer: dolphins dont really mean you're safe.

Tuncurry breakwall huh! How do you like your sharks Ricky.??
Interesting you mention that. I was out there again this morning (lumpy and wind-affected). A couple of locals pointed out a chopper off to the north buzzing around. 'That's the shark-spotter'. There was a heap of birds and dolphins having a feast on bait fish out the back, and with the chopper hanging around I decided to head in, wondering how they communicate if they spot a shark. As I was walking through the dunes the chopper came right down and they announced on a speaker that there was shark in the river (I'd be surprised if there wasn't).

Even better I was there with my son this afternoon pushing him onto a few waves on my longboard. Probably should have gone elsewhere
For me one time they got my attention by coming in about 40m above me, one guy leaning right out of the side door obviously screaming "get the fcuk out of there" and gesticulating wildly to let me know there was a shark about 30m from me (newspapers said 3.1m great white). The shark had been tracking over to me from about 500m away.

Looking forward to hunting out some banks the next decent swell/wind combo. These northerlies look like they've been shifting heaps of sand around here.

You must be a leadfoot, brendo. :)
They have had good sand for quite some time though. Always a fun trip. It's been mostly shit here since the debbie floods.

Disagree Buddy......been plenty of good sand over winter.

it's shoddier now than it has been for a while...those northerlies are mostly shitt for sandbanks.

I'm referring to the 3.5km of beach that is exposed to Sth swell. Had it's moments, but mostly been a shambles.
When the banks are good on that stretch, then between your joint and here, there's good waves to be had just about everyday.

yeah, but that isn't the only stretch that picks up S swell....it's just the biggest.

few other corners and coves that have been making beautiful music with it over winter.
