Bill was 91.
He was one of the original Brookvale Six featured in Men of Wood and Foam.

my old man has still got his from 68. im getting it restored for his 70th next yr. now that's gunna be a real surprise for the old boy

Yeah my first board was a Wallace too. 7 foot pintail with a thick "pod" , with a double glue up ..an inch apart and a paisley cloth fin too. It had amazing rocker that was almost ridiculous. That was 1967 and it cost me 35 bucks second hand from Bennetts..in their old red brick shop.. before the Dion days
