christ don't go to Trestles. It is the worst event on tour. soo deeply dispiriting. If one wrote a book about it one would call the book "Bros In The Dust"
Why? Is it spectator amenity?
well a bit. It's just not the sort of place that suits the sci-fi hospital approach to setup employed by the WSL. And it doesn't suit a thousand spectators. And a lot of the time the wave is no kind of challenge. It's hard to access as well. Its a place to go for a bit of quiet time. When it's all set up and people are wandering around and vehicles are kicking up dust, and there's noise and Bros everywhere and Lowers is its average floppy self, it just feels wrong.

I had a paddle. Nice to be in the water since I haven't had the time for a week or more. Waters getting cold. Didn't look particularly promising and the SE Wind was just starting to come up a little.

Surprisingly I just sat on this little bank and was actually knocking a couple back as they just kept popping up and hardly anyone seemed to notice. Maybe two other people vaguely trying for any there. Scored quite a few semi okay ones. Then it changed. Got more crowded. Moved up the beach a bit. Caught one in.

Surfs been pretty small for the last week and nothing solid on the horizon. Big contrast with the rest of the year so far when it was head to double and even bigger most of the time.

Had an hour an a half before sunset zipping around on the biscuit in one ft onshore dribblers. Great fun

To tell the truth eggs are one thing I avoid buying when I’m grocery shopping. So you may say I’m an intermittent egg buyer who usually lets someone else buy them.

Yeah..I watched the Surfabout Contest at the Bower too..i'd jigged school. Was interesting to see how the best in the world rode Winki. I recall Gerry Lopez on his backhand eating it on one take off. But nobody rode Deadmans back then. Barry K actually came to our school and spoke to we stoked groms.

Renos cheater five. A classic example of the judging system not matching contemporary surfing.
I remember everyone complaining that the system also allowed MP to just do fifteen thousand little re entries and cutties on one wave and rack up points like a Pinnie machine.

it's pretty as a picture 3ft here.

I only just put the 7'6" back under the house from the last swell.
