Top 10% of the surfers at a break get 50% of the waves, next best 40% get 40%, bottom 50% get 10%
Sort of agree.....Bondi it can also include the most dangerously out of control. An average surf assessment includes whether the kook will paddle onto the wave regardless of who's on it....whether they'll be able to turn if they do....whether it will be in the direction the waves going if they do turn. Pros are....everyone like that will go the first wave of the set every time. Negative is you will have to dodge the lot of them on the next wave because they all lost it on the take off.

I'm kind of talking more about the kind of frother who as well as getting 60% of the waves thinks they may as well just swing around and pick up the scraps as well. It's unnecessary. Particularly if the only reason they are getting the waves is because they are on a mini mal.

Most civilised surf spots you can get a wave if you can surf. When I've surfed Sandon, Anga or Burleigh on an average day there is way more etiquette in the water than at city beaches.

Still the maths remains given X number of surfers and X number of waves in a set in an hour how many waves will you get?

I don't come across many wave hogs. The really good surfers pick the good waves and there aren't that many good waves in Sydney. The only blokes that really shit me are the fit 20 something spastics who take off way too deep and think they are charging Pipe on a 3ft day only to ruin the wave for someone in a better position. Soooooo annoying.

Correct.
This is partly to appreciate what your expectations should be in an average crowded surf.

Recommendations for a waterproof digital watch for surfing that's under $100 that "lasts" and won't fog up if taken in the shower ? Can't be bothered taking a watch on and off, once it's on it fkn stays on.

I've had two watches with hands that both screwed up in less than a year so I thought a digital might be the go instead. Plus it looks eighties

I can't wear watches....old arm injury that also effects a few surf related repetition activities.

just buy 20 of them, they will last a few months each but still work out cheaper.

"To grovel or not to grovel? This is the question"

Of late when it's been 1-2ft I've been riding my 6'3 CV2 fish or my DVS All Rounder (7'4) . They aren't really meant for the small stuff, a few lads on here would say the CV2 needs juice, the All Rounder is an incredible board that really has a 2-5ft range.

Question is do you keep riding a board like the CV2 and try to make is work in small weak waves. It works but you work and ultimately you remain surf fit. The All Rounder in small stuff is a fun cruiser that turns, nose rides etc...or

Does one buy a full short board groveller for ease of paddling and get a little shortboard turning arc...sorter best of both worlds?
