Subject: Flex fin for single fin egg 6'0 ?
Hello ...
Wanting to buy a flex fin for a 6'0 x 20 x 2 9/16 single fin egg (see attached)
After some advice on what would best suit?
I'm 85kg, 30 yrs surfing experience, power-oriented (push hard through turns)
Will be surfing the board in waves waist high to a little overhead, beach breaks, points, and reefs on east coast Australia.
Was thinking the L-Flex in 8'0 but totally open to suggestions.
Hey ...
Sweet board!
Actually you nailed what I would suggest. For a 6ft egg like yours I would go for an 8” L-flex. I would also say a Skip fry is a good fin choice but the 8.5” might be a little big and the 7.5” might be a tad too small.
Stick with the 8” L-flex and you should be great.

Jesus. Another weak string bean. Probably gets his wife to open his beers, his weak wrists don't have the strength to do it

Re: Single fin shortboards
Just thought the fin might be a bit big
If it's flexy I guess.

Big ? My 6'11 70's single fin pintail has a 9" volan flex gun/fin. No problems turning the board.
Re: Single fin shortboards
Just bit the bullet and put in an order for a custom board with PCC
[Board Requirement]
Wanting a board primarily for head-high to double overhead reefs, points, and beach-breaks - a good performing all-rounder, that can be carved hard on rail with full rail turns. Board needs to have good performance in steep sections for top to bottom, as well as some element of glide/trim/coverage over flatter sections. I love boards that flow and make surfing feel clean and easy.
[Board Specs]
•6’4 x 20 x 2 5/8 rounded pin
•Fuller classic late 70’s outline, still sleek and refined
•Moderate even rocker, I don’t want a board that surfs too flat
•Good volume throughout but not corky
•Vee-Bottom with double concave between the fins
•Single 8.5” fin Greenough
•Strong construction, built to last.

I want Nightclub Dwight dead in his grave I want the nice-nice up in blazes
Re: Single fin shortboards
no. but just watched the 38 sec trailer. https://youtu.be/OrIFG8jV9W8
this custom will now be single fin number 4 in my quiver. the single fin has become my favourite set up. sure at times a thruster will be a better bet, but the overall clean neutral feel of a single fin is a thing that has me hooked.

Sounds like my 6'8 shrunk down to a 6'4.Hatchnam wrote:Just bit the bullet and put in an order for a custom board with PCC

It's likely the same template that I'm going for. Got the pic off his intagram
Re: Single fin shortboards
If its the same as the Tumeric coloured single fin that he did for Terepai Richmond then it's the same one.Hatchnam wrote:It's likely the same template that I'm going for. Got the pic off his intagram
