I've got a variety of boards but my two cents worth on tuflites is they were too expensive to catch on generally...the shapers didn't like them...and the "core" surfers had skin in the game because their status related to their close personal relationship with their chosen shaper. The secondary factor was they lasted too long which would put the shops out of business. The finer details about stiffness, etc..wouldn't register for the average surfer.

I find it hilarious that Steve can bag a board designed by say Dick Brewer, Donald Takayama, Wayne Lynch, MR, etc because of the materials used.

Wouldn't matter how Rolls Royce the shape of it was, if it's a tuflite it's still going to ride like a bicycle with no tyres

? They're hyper-responsive, but in a negative way - they don't filter anything out. they feel like china plates with every little bump they encounter. There's no dampening or absorbing effect whatsoever.

They ride perfectly for me, poly has too much flex and is too slow to respond.

And I find them no more annoying in chop than a poly

Incorrect. The shapers involved loved them because they got a royalty based on their intellectual property: a massive win.
They didn't last too long at all......as soon as they dinged they pretty much fell to bits unless expertly repaired.
I could show you hundreds of 30-40-50 year old poly boards still in surfable nick.
I bet within ten years you'll struggle to find a single surftech that hasn't ended up in landfill.

And christ Beany, if master designers surfboards with proven shapes still ride like shite , what variable could be isolated to account for that>?

The blank is just to aid the manufacturing process, otherwise its not needed.

Disagree strongly about the longevity steve, my new heavyweight McCoys already have more damage after a week than ANY of my up to 10 year old STs

STs usually just get cosmetic damage. Sand 'em down and respray and they are good as new
