My kids all have them as well. Not as stretchy as the higher cost suits but they only fit them for a few days before they grow. And they are kids so they can suck it up, I never had a wetsuit as a kid, I just turned blue

I have a short arm/sleeve one but its a bit big round the waist for my height. Designed for Aldi customers not inner city hipsters. But good enough for summer/autumn

Must've been tough Trev, given the water temperature gets down to at least 19 on the gold coast.

You know better than that boo.
It's the wind chill that does the damage.
In the water is fine.
Besides, why then do so many guys wear full rubber these days.

I spent my first winter in Sydney surfing in a spring suit.

I have asked the same thing many times, Trev.
I only ever had a sleeveless vest until I moved to Newie....Spring Suit then. Actually can't remember the first steamer I bought.

First wetsuit was a cut down dive suit (so turned into a spring suit) with a whopping big front zipper............I had no idea what I was buying (second hand classifieds in the Sunday paper).

Yep I used thick stiff dive wetsuits in the days of yore.
The chafe in my armpits made the tortures of ISIS look like gentle pats on the bum.
Water flushed through like a California dam spillway .

Kids today are soft I tells ya, with their buttery wetties, fancy legropes, sunscreen and stretchy boardshorts.
We had to burn off skin cancer lesions with a magnifying glass.
They don't know how good they've got it with their webcams, surf reports and suncure resin.
We had to sew leather patches on our dings and coat em with pine tar, pitch and turpentine.
Soft!

Yep....had to scrape the tar off the road too. Actually we used to do that to patch up our tin canoes when I was living in the country. We would wait for the council to repair a pot hole and go and dig out the tar. Heat it in a can. Council must have loved us.

My first spring suit was an American Divers Brand one....they had advertised in surfing mags and they were sold in surf shops. Purple and the full starfish flexibility factor.

Same. Front zip dive suit. But it was in Vicco, so I would have worn one of those diving bell suits to keep warm in winter.

I used an Aldi springy for a while. Goes alright. Sizes are way off though, if you're a medium you will need a small and then start doing lots of heavy squats because the thighs are way too big, even on the small.

Steve, just convert to short arm steamers already. It's a sign.
