Maybe a Japanese resort with onsen etc etc. Those snow monkeys look great and getting pissed with Japanese people is as fun as life gets.
Jackson Hole sounds nice: those Grand Tetons appeal. I'm sure the flyfishing in those streams is epic.

I've ridden powder as deep as it can get and and as steep as it can get and after giving it away I don't miss it a single bit. Maybe a bluebird day in the Aussie back country jumping off a cornice along the Tate ridge.
Jackson hole still has that cowboy town vibe about it and the locals are real down to earth.
They relish their rough neck status in comparison with those wankers in Aspen. Epic wildlife too.
Erase.

In Aspen, nobody else seems to ski before lunch.

Loof is already excited enough thinking about all that competition for some rough trade in the Grand Tetons.

I don't think Loof is man enough to take on a bull moose.

Legion wrote:Disagree. My skis have more surface area than an average snowboard. Combined with a longer running length (i.e. more directional) and independent suspension makes for a whole lotta fun. Rockered layup means I don't have to lean back constantly. And when you get to an access track and neither of you has hiking equipment it's still slightly less not-fun than postholing.
is it not true that the modern skis have heavily incorporated tech developed by the snowboard industry? twin tips, rocker/reverse camber,
big wide powder skis? is there no skill in guys doing quad corks in competition? I really don't get the whole skiing is better than snowboarding wankfest which is always started by skiers. I ride with quite a few guys that are really good skiers. not my cup of tea, but I respect what they do.i also know quite a few that gave snowboarding a go and never skied again, but also a few that are really good at both. and like surfing there are plenty of kook skiers and snowboarders that have no idea and shit me to tears.
the whole ' snowboarding is bodyboarding' sounds like something a bunch of skiers spurt out while sipping cognac in front of the fire in a swiss chalet,
while simultaneously wanking furiously onto a twink in a bukkake party.....
the ' snow is shit in aus I only ski overseas' is another elitist wanker comment. if we didn't have snow chances are most people would never even bother let alone gain a skill set to want to chase snow os. sure the runs are short, mostly intermediate, and the snow shit more often than blower pow, but hey its what we got. our terrain is more 'snowboard friendly' with plenty of rollers, side hits, rocks, cornices, trees . our BC is pretty damn
good if you head out to the sentinel, watsons crags, blue lake.

Well I am not that much of a ski kook. I just like to ski! I don't want to surf here, I do plenty of that everywhere else. Not everything is about being fantastic.

As far as Kuta in Japan goes, I am not seeing that much of it up here at all, maybe this is not the peak part of the year, but it's not that crowded and there don't seem to be many yobbos. I am doing this to spend time with my son and that's working out fine.

Hawaii was work, this is play, it was planned some time ago - the trips are coincidentally close.

Anyway surfed the hell out of it today, tree runs off the HIrafu midsection were sick! there's a good bogan word for ya.

Brendo you're a bit sensitive on this issue, you arc up every time.

I've never been in Oz because of a lack of time and because it is a low probability poor value (for money) proposition.
I've done most of my riding by working for a season or tacked onto family holidays where I was already in the region so the travel cost was minimal. In my case it isn't elitism, just rationality.

And as a fairly experienced and capable boarder, I agree with Legion. On technical terrain he'd leave me for dead. There are physiological advantages to being symmetrical and forward facing. It's not elitism, it is science.

If I get the chance to spend a decent chunk of time on snow again I'm going to learn to ski.

And I realise you like the park and pipe, but then the valid comparison is with skating. The skill is in the air not on the snow.
