Re: Streaky Bay
for a holiday or something longer term?
the school there is meant to be good. excellent student engagement, focus more on eco, and sustainable planet use & and growing their own foods than things completely useless like algebra.

I note that among the top five things to do there is to look at the great white replica.
MM should be a mine of information, he's probably thereabouts now but keeping it quiet

Re: Streaky Bay
I'm looking at the 2011 Census results.
The main occupations of people living in Streaky Bay are 23.4% Managers, 15.5% Technicians & trades workers, 14.5% Labourers, 10.9% Professionals, 9.9% Community & personal service workers, 9.5% Clerical & administrative workers, 8.6% Sales workers, 6.1% Machinery operators & drivers, 1.6% Occupation inadequately described.
The median individual income is $473 per week.
I can only infer that Streaky Bay has the highest percentage of Managers in the known world and also that Managers are egregiously underpaid there.

I've spent a lot of time there, and still have mates living there but I probably can't help you much Steve.Cranked wrote:MM should be a mine of information, he's probably thereabouts now but keeping it quiet
It's a great little town, definitely the pick of the west coast, but work opportunities will be thin on the ground.
The kids will grow up a little feral in a good way and probably love it.
You'll clock up a lot of miles on gravel roads to surf, but it is also central to all the good west coast spots up and down the coast.
There's some good genuine people there once you get into the life. I remember Steve saying that he's been through the area a long time ago so I assume he knows the general feel.
Alternatively Port Lincoln is bigger has more to offer and is not that far away.

Oh just saw this, so not to live?steve shearer wrote:just a spot of fishing.

Fishing is OK but probably not as good as where you are. Salmon, squid and crabs would be 90% of the catch unless you have a boat.
Further up past Penong is where they catch big Jew on lures in the daytime on the beaches.

They call themselves "managers" because with that income they just manage.foamy wrote:I'm looking at the 2011 Census results.
