Well the rain in Sydney we are experiencing now, at this time of year, does wonders for baitfish hatchings and growth; nutrients etc.
And talking to two mates, one a Sydney fishing guide, the other a Sydney based fishing film maker, both said past El Nino years have produced fantastic fishing in Sydney. Lots of bait, and lots of things which feed on the bait. And lots of things which feed on the things which are feeding on the bait.

Mate went out fishing on a boat yesterday and caught 15 decent sized kingfish!
Hows that for science.

Stab fisho says GWS population is increasing - thats got to be the recovery in whale population. 10% increase per year - the burgeoning blubber conveyer past Cape Byron is feeding more mouths - simple as that. Now add the marine sanctuary to bring them in when they're sick of whale. On top of that you've got the river system and the perennial bull shark problem.Rockin' Ron wrote:Cavendish banana eh?
It's full on, whatever it is. Bait balls and food and changing weather patterns, warmer currents, whale migration and greater proximity to humans due to any number of reasons.... its everything in one big venn diagram of variables. I can't see how the population of sharks can be bigger though
They're going to have to net every surf spot to deal with this.

No. They're small with negligible girth.
Cavendish however. You could beat a full grown man to death with one.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Wow!
Over at Beach Grit, Fred Pawle has really jumped the shark with an extreme, sneering, anti-science and anti-nature rant.
I think scared Fred needs to stay at home and cuddle teddy.

I'd like to get funding for a tagging program for Fred Pawle's readers.
He presumably only wants to fund cheap research for things that are already well understood and don't scare him.

actually, they did.
with the growing number of tagged sharks we're getting a better idea of seasonal movements.
