Cheers - all for the princely sum of $550 - one small pressure ding and some really light scratches. I have done more damage to it in 5 surfs! If I had the option I would have chosen a mini jerk or shelter type shape, but searching gumtree for bonzers is a true example of beggars can't be choosers.....

So whats the thoughts on alternative fins the bonzer centre - those things are hard to find and expensive!

Try a smaller base.
If you want to buy some good fins try True Ames in the US. Even with freight and FX it works out heaps cheaper than buying here.

Two questions.
What are the dimensions of your Russ short?
What area are you in?

I've got a 6'2 mini merk and could be keen for a trade. Or at least a board swap for a few weeks.
Mine is 6'2 x 20 x 2 5/8 in Cronulla

Alkali fins in Ballina makes some very, very sweet singles.

Roy Stuarts spitfire fins are great fun and add an extra dimension to a Bonzer.

Good to get the merk out this morning. Tail felt a bit loose first couple waves but came good with some adjustment on my part.

What fin you surf in yours Steve? A 6.5??

I reckon.

I primarily would like to try it in bigger point surf because it has a wider base and thus would expect more drive.

ymmv in shitty sydney surf.

I finally finished a Bonzer I have been working on over the past few months, the blank was cut by a friend on a machine, I did the rest. The other board is completely handshaped and glassed.

I wrote my own name on the stringer but also included "machined blank"

fingers crossed for a few waves over the next few days to test it out
