Re: that wetsuit discussion...
Does anyone wanna buy a NEED wetsuit top size Large. Worn once - $25. Buyer to pay postage if required, just a bit too big for me.

Aren't you like 6'2" and 90kegs+
How is it too big?

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
I see Quik are trying to unload their Ignite 3/2 chest zip and zipless steamers for $165 on ebay. Anyone further north wear one over winter? (3/2 is my summer suit here in Vic)
FYI Had about 10 surfs in my Need 4/3 steamer - still very happy.

Anyone know where I might get a smooth skin hooded vest?

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
The whole lot smoothskin you mean? Never seen one myself. 30 years ago I had an all-neoprene hooded vest (not smoothskin though) but you can't really seem to even get those any more, with most manufacturers doing a polypro body with a smoothskin hood. Dive shops might have them I guess but they probably won't have the toggle to tighten the hood around your face which will be a pain in the arse when you're duckdiving
You might have to get one made up I reckon, or just wear a hood together with a hoodless smoothskin vest. What do you want it for anyway? Trying to outdo shearer in the gimp stakes? Edit: Don't worry I just read your other post. Vest on the outside eh? I trust you also wear your booties over your wetsuit legs rather than tucked in? Legrope firmly attached in the carpark?

I found my gimp mask the other day, under the house. The rats had made a nest in it, but it'll be good to go again this winter.
Still in boardies though here GSTQ.
Hows the water temp there?
boy I hope Braithy's nuts are logging heaps of warm water time, he might need the "muscle memory" in a month or so.

Nine degrees here steve. Never got that cold this winter as the weather was pretty mild and in a decent suit you barely notice it anyway.
It only gets down to about 12 or 13 in tasmania doesn't it? What the hell's he taking a 5/4 for, the big ponce

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
swiv, referring again to your other post, I've got 4/3 and 5/4 drylocks and they're very nice suits. I'm sure the 3/2 is as well. Have you thought about a heated vest under a 3/2 rather than adding layers of neoprene? I've got the fairly crappy quiksilver one and even that makes a decent difference. I reckon if you got the RC one - or better still the Thermalution one - you'd be fine in a 3/2. The main downside is cost, although there may be some bargains around in our shops as we edge into summer
Re: that wetsuit discussion...
Cheers, gstq. Couple of attempted replies lost. I blame the phone
Thought about the heated vest, but don't mind the extra rubber in vest form - barely notice it, although it hasn't really been rubber (polypro). Have seen a smooth skin vest by oneill which I could pair with a smooth hoodie
Might also make enquiry to Triple X about making me one
Re underrubber on the outside. Busted. If you discounted splashing around between the flags with my little princess boogie board on hot summer days, I don't really surf

If you just want the hood there are heaps of dive options.
Re: that wetsuit discussion...
I just bought a 3mm long john and a 2mm front zip long sleeve top, both Xcel super stretchy rubber. This combination is extemely easy to get in and out of and I can vary the tops from 1mm short sleeve to 2mm long to suit the conditions and so I can have 5 mm on the body for those winter dawn surfs in the super dry offshores that produce a windchill of around a few degrees.
Added bonus is longevity, the shoulders on all my wetsuits are reduced to just the nylon mesh after a year or two but the rest of the rubber is usually fine so I can just replace the top bit.
Easy to get on and off! Thank fcuking christ

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
Just stylin'. I'll have to just learn to ignore those envious looks.
Nah, I figure its the sun degrading the rubber. Its happened to the last 5 wetsuits. I always have three: short arms and legs, short leg long arms (the most used) and a steamer.
Actually, its probably more like 2-3 years before that happens, but it pisses me off when the rest of the wetty is OK.

Don't you only surf in Indo?
Why do you even own a wetsuit?
