I made a 6x66oz keel fish. Was unreal, in 3 years I surfed it more than anything. I bought a few boards but ended up selling them because I couldn't get off it. Tried to strip it down and make a smaller, lighter version. Epic fail haha. Made a few more but none as good as that one.
I have a 6'6" egg that I made. Super chunky all over. Only surfed it a few times but push the kids into whitewater on it occasionally. Should really give it a proper run. Rolled up bottom through the front and rolled up rails til about halfway. Gato heroi space roach style, but 3 times as thick lol

Make the first couple sort of eggy and a little chunky to allow for the mistakes but they end up being the best boards.

divine this morning.
for some reason the gentlemens hour at the Pointbreak I chose was lightly attended. The waves were hissing, puffing, breathing, sidewinding, bowling, barrelling, long, blue, warm, full of baitfish and skittering dart, overhead, then ruffled by zephyrs of light onshore wind which put tiny cats paws over the water surface, super high performance, made old men feel young and young men feel invincible.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Welcome back Steve.
Coming in to low tide there were weaker and long-time-coming waves on my nearest point break than suggested by coastalwatch. OK for a mal and not too crowded.

No too much push in it for that little light weight rocket
Took it yesterday to fatarita - flys down the line - as it is a long way the shortest board I have ever had I found it difficult to control and lacked confidence taking off - plenty of floatation fast and loose, I just think my reflexes are too slow
yeah with little fish you've gotta just go for it and get your weight setting the inside rail asap.
Got some of the best little tubes ever on my 4'11 fish. As long as you make the drop it starts to really fly.
Rode my old 5'10 twin thing this morning, rip-off MR 1980 basically made around the same time. First 3 waves I was all over the shop with my feet in the wrong spots before it clicked and then I got a bag of fun waves.

I had a pretty sketchy surf. started out on fire , thought I had my little bonzer dialed and then the thing started to develop a mind of it's own, we couldn't come to agreement about where we wanted to go.
I kept thinking of poor little Loofy, sitting there in his cubicle wagging his finger....he really should be better with all these perfect waves on offer

8ft single.... Prob not my board of choice but it was all I had in the car and my wife was at home with 2 sick kids so I wasnt going to go and swap it over if you catch my drift.
Anyhow, yeah real fun, let me paddle into some of the bigger sets out there. Bit of an adrenalin rush.

the old 'shirk my parental duties yet again' routine
anyway, the surf at the point his morning was stupendously good. Had to be seen to be believed. Barrel dodgers, poor paddlers and slow bottom-turners need not apply.

for the record I rode a twin fin that's older than I am and it flew in the barrel.
