Yeah just feels weird having a board that light. I like it as is, but know that I would love it if it wasn't epoxy.

Anything above 2ft and I like some weight in my boards, they just seem to plane nicely I think and if it's a good board it will slice the waves nicely. I don't mind Epoxy in smaller boards or smaller surf. I agree with you newbie.

I did google search months ago when I first came across them and found a photo of an epoxy 6'6 finbox had for sale in March 2014. The first thing I though was... that about be perfect in normal six ounce construction.

Hey Matty - is it just a single fin or does it have the plugs for the 2+1 set-up?

Hey Bateos, it's just a single. And Jet that's probably the one I bought, got it from Finbox last October or November. Don't get me wrong it's a super fun board to surf, but something about epoxy just doesn't sit right with me, even the noise that water makes when it hits the board haha.

Matty it looks like a sweet board. I know what you mean about the noise. It's why I don't have any surftechs anymore.

MF you can go direct to Neal just drop him a note he's pretty good at picking up and replying. I get mine through the The Shop Next Door at Manly. Taylor who owns it is a great guy if you want to order through there and I don't think there is a material difference in price direct or through there. Either way they aren't cheap (1000) but not over the top either in my view they are hand shaped, the fins are hand shaped, the boards last forever, I have dragged across reefs, dropped on roads etc....but most importantly they are great to ride, they really are.

Totally agree about the durability factor being cheaper in the long run.

This one isn't new, but when it was in getting some repairs I got a finbox put in so it feels new.
It's a double -ender shape from the late 60s, with modern contours (quite a deep double through the back) and quad setup.

Goes well as a quad, but I always had a nagging desire to try it as it was originally designed, as a single...plus I ordered it a bit big (6'6" x wide X thick) for me to throw it around (brother has the same in 6'2", what I should've got), so it's become my longboard-beater. Taking it down Byron way tomorrow for a few days.

The fin is fcuking gorgeous in real life, apologies for the photo taken with a potato

Plugs are a bit far forward to try it as a bonzer

Did you get huie to make the fin too? I've got one from him, excellent fin. Jealous of you having that board too, I'm sure it's a ripper.

ever tried it as a 2+1 with GL40s size for sides, might be a real fun snakey cut back machine....

Just got out of the water at golf course reef mollymook.
I reckon a smooth glide would be awesome at a break like that. 7footer would be a good place to start. Even 7'6 for the big days.

Yeah huie made the fin. Haven't had it out yet since the refit, have some little bites to try.

Get it out there yesterday Boo?
Looked like some nice small peelers when i drove past near low tide.
Places down my way were mighty fun looking too for a midlength.

Not yesterday, I was scoping it and getting antsy but had 4 kids to watch. Out this morning on mid tide, knee to waist high and pretty full, the board is transformed. So much glide, better balance in the board, cuts back like nothing else.

How queer that the biggest, most maligned kook vehicle of all time , the mini-mal , has been rebranded as a mid length and is now considered the epitome of Cool.
