The only attitude I have is positive, and my wine is best at room temperature.

Yeah. The current chart I'm looking at it will. Long lulls in between 3-4 foot sets at the peak.
Even I should get some rogue 2-foot action ...

depends on how long it hangs around for. one of the models has it hanging west of new caledonia for a few days which would light up the whole NSW coast for a few days late next week... so i read!Rockin' Ron wrote:Any of you weather nerds got half a clue if it will get to the south coast (of NSW) ?
The initial pulse won't get into sydney, but may show up further south.

Re: TC Freda
Nice introduction to 2013.
Rron, there might be some south swell as well to mix things up a bit down south.
Either way, there is going to be swell in the water for more than just a few days, but at this stage not so sure about the winds being favourable.
Ah well, I'll take what I can get.

looks like new cal is gunna get belted by it. and take note captian feathersword....its not so much the cyclone that produces the swell, its the high that cradles it and the lenght of the fetch with it

Re: TC Freda
To be honest Brendo, the high that's cradling it is not really producing that much in the initial swell. It's more so the S'ly track of the cyclone that has the core strength fetch working on the active sea state to produce the strong NE swell. The high really only comes into play as the ex TC heads SE towards NZ as it passes below New Cal and the swell swings more E'ly in direction.brendo wrote:its not so much the cyclone that produces the swell, its the high that cradles it and the lenght of the fetch with it

Yeah, if that thing stays west of NZ when it goes extra tropical and hits a ridging high coming off NSW, it's gonna have a second life that'll make the first look like KS's wave pool idea.
One set of progs has it doing exactly that. Sometimes I wonder if the progs are operated by an optimistic surfer though.

Freda sounds like a generous lady.
... And with that surmise, I'm buying an air ticket back to the fabled land.

Re: TC Freda
Hasn't there already been a cyclone Freda? And no, I'm not talking about Freda Zamba! I wasn't aware that they used the same names twice. Perhaps the other 1 I'm thinking of was named in aus waters.
Regardless, I'm pretty fcuken excited about surf prospects this week! Hope everyone goes on massive benders for NYE. Should at least keep a few away for the early.

Re: TC Freda
Scratch that, just checked a list of cyclones named in aus waters. And it wasn't there, maybe mixed up with Fran.
Spose I should lay off the crack.
