Mmmmmmm, Marcus, upgraded to a 8.9.

10m tsunamis accross the area.

PNG, Solomons, Hawaii I think could be in for some serious hits!! :-(

Damn mother nature, can be kind but VERY VERY cruel at times.

Hey Butts, a rare visit by your good self.

You know, I'm thinking that you and I shouldn't be on a computer at home, but should be out drinking at a pub somewhere.

Will see what I can do.

Re earthquake and tsunami - vision of the tsunami coming in was amazing and terrifying. They wouldn't have got much warning but hopefully a lot moved inland before it hit.

Suppose we will find out.

I feel for places like Nauru, Tuvalu, Guam, Marshall Islands. Low lying Islands.

Jeez, potentially this could wipe areas off the face of the map.

Sad. :-(

That entire area north east of Papua New Guinea/ Timor L'Este is dotted for thousands of kms with low lying islands. As you say, potential they will be stripped bare by this, of people, palms, premises.

Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Melanesia, after it gets through all that it could even deliver a small wave on the north island of NZ.

Tsunami footage again, unbelievable.

terrible news for japan.
Living so close to the plate boundary means very little warning.

The period of the waves was massive, 9.2ft (on the gauge, deep water) at 72 minutes in Hokkaido.

Fortunately most of the energy is directed away from the low-lying countries.

2 more hours before it hits Hawaii. That'd be an ominous thing hanging over you as you try to get to sleep in an evacuation centre.

likely to be 2-3 feet on the west coast of the US, centred on LA, up to 6 feet in Hawaii.

If there is one good thing, the tsunami will mostly affect the two places in the world (Japan and Hawaii) best prepared for it.

2 beers only. You must be on cheaper rates than me.

No problems at all mate. Much rather see my money go on a shout than passing it off to some damned phone company.

They bit into me big time in January and I'm on the lonely path to try and get some recompense for their call drop-outs, no connections, everything going to voicemail etc.

So we will have to be in a pub for me to buy you some beers Butts. That's an incentive if ever I've heard one.
