Dawn session at laurieton. Just got in. Only waist to chest high but punchy little peaks breaking top to bottom.
I think you'll find that its North Haven ... there's no surf at Laurieton.

Very true. It’s what us out of towners call it. It’s a bit like everyone at Kingscliff saying they were going surfing in at Tweed if they were going to surf anywhere from Kirra to DBah. Well not really the same but you know.

Did have a hunt for waves out towards Diamond Head though one time.

Didn’t go shark hunting at Tuncurry Breakwall?
Had some great little surfs at Laureton.
Neither of the mid-north coast break walls really had enough swell. Well not quite enough east in it to make it worth the bother

Must have been crap if there was only 5 out on Boxing Day. Half of Sydney is usually there. How was Blueys?

Well in the grand scheme of things it was crap. But there was enough shape and length to the runs to get in at least two full turns each wave.

I’d rate it a 2 / 10. You’d probably rate it a little higher

And of course blueys was smaller, and not worth mentioning let alone asking about

Blueys has its days. I have higher standards than you because you continually rate poor to mediocre semi close outs as worth surfing.

And late arvo session at north wall Ballina. Plenty head high sets coming through. Not too many people out. Bagged plenty

Up until Big Hill, where the national park starts.

Funny how "everyone" is getting their knickers in a knot about it too, considering that half of that road was already sealed.

The other yelling is all about more people using it now, but if you've spent enough time in the area, then you'd already know how much traffic travels along that road ... as in heaps. Some things are worth fighting for, but not 5.8km of an 11km stretch of shitfully maintained unsealed road.

It’s funny how it’s always way more busy along that teeth rattling potholed stretch than on the bitumen road to Hat Head. Back in the day when you could get right through to Port in a regular car….if you thrashed it. Long gone. Seal Rocks isn’t the same either.
I kind of agree about the road but it’s not as romantic cruising along a nice new road. Too much potential beach front real estate.

I’m going to tell a beany type story.
In the 70s, dad and I were doing a drive in the old HT Kingswood exploring the north coast NSW beaches. I was a teenager. We were driving along the unpaved Point Plomer Rd when we encountered a hippie couple with their thumbs out. Lone car, lone hitchers, we decided to pick them up. They got into the back seat and were appreciative and very chatty. In the old front bench car seat arrangement, it was easy for me to turn around and talk to them directly. It was impossible not to notice that the young woman’s hippie top was very seethrough and her breasts were clearly visible. I did well not to stare, but they were the first breasts I had ever seen in real life. And that is my very happy memory of driving the old Point Plomer Rd.
