Not a fair analogy re: bikes. The equivalent of Steves statement is if you can get on a board and stand up after a couple of weeks. Equivalent to surfing would be going on a treacherous downhill off-road ride if you hadn't done one in a while.....or becoming a Deliveroo rider.

well, I can not ride a bike for 20 years and get back on and I'm fine.

I don't surf for 2 weeks and I'm a kook.

you lose surf fitness, skill and timing very quickly without constant practise.

so opposite of riding a bike.
That’s what’s weird. I’m 52. I thought I’d struggle to even get up. But it was really like I’d never stopped. So for me, just like riding a bike.

The Point at Santa Cruz

Chatted with a nice fella that was riding a "freeway board". It's a bit of thing down here given the amount of freeways, apparently one can find a surfboard with some regularity on the side of the road. He was pretty happy with it, only cost about $120 in fiberglass repairs and he had a pretty decent longboard with a swallow tail end

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

You lose bike fitness, skill and timing on a bike too steve. Depends on how you ride I guess. If you're just pootling down the point who cares.
skill and timing?

mate, you get on and peddle the thing and steer.

it's not rocket science, hence the phrase: just like riding a bike.

Maybe BA is riding a mini-mal in 2ft beachies?

not sure, but if he's talking about short boarding in surf with any kind of challenge, then he'll be way behind.

To tell the truth eggs are one thing I avoid buying when I’m grocery shopping. So you may say I’m an intermittent egg buyer who usually lets someone else buy them.

exactly.

I hate circus trick "novelty" sports.

99.99% of people a bike is peddling and steering.

You can teach a 4 year old to do it in an hour.

Boomers can do it all day long with or without lycra.

This attempt to wank it into something it's not is very weak sauce.

sorry I meant the tripe you bike wankers are peddling.

It's not a skill based sport.

Lol.

Exactly, you should just a ride a decent size board, 99% of surfing is standing up and going straight, not that pathetic wiggling stuff all over the wave face

not really Cranked.

majority of surfing is paddling and sitting on a board.

skill set of surfing dwarfs bike riding.

it's by far the hardest sport/activity.

Surely the likes of Lewis Hamilton at Kelly’s pool have throughly torpedoed the myth of surfing being difficult to learn?
