Fun Saturday and Sunday. Those end of winter/spring is coming slightly roughed up 3fts.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Decided to head down to Bendalong this morning . Lot of swell . A very frustrating session for me , just could not get into a rhythm . Poor wave choice and a very packed beach did not make for much fun . Some thumpings , kick outs in frustration before ending up with around a 40 minute sequence of waves well ridden . Can`t be on all the time !
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Small NE beach breaks - great to be in the water
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Steamer Lane at Santa Cruz yesterday.
Conditions were really small but it was my first paddle in months thanks to Stage 4 restrictions in Victoria so it was nice to be in the water. Cool surf break, the take-off next to the rock is weird but it works, and fcuk me there is so muck kelp in the water. It feels like you're paddling in wet hair! Also climbing up and down the rocks must be a low swell option only, wouldn't be game to take that on in bigger surf.
There was only about 10 people in the water but I got the sense of a very strong local vibe so I kept to myself, stayed out of the way etc...
Might rent another car next weekend and try another spot around there

There was a mal comp on when we were there the first time. It looks like a fun wave though. I guess if it was big you could catch waves down to Cowells and go in there pretty easily. Pleasure Point where I surfed is a few miles south. Huge surf area that can handle the crowds. A lot of the surf companies have their stores down there.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Pleasure Point is to Steamer Lane as Winki is to Bells
One is more famous, the other just seems to work better in most conditions. Lots of crowds though and almost everyone was on a longboard, but I managed to snag a couple on a second hand 6'8" thruster I bought. Wave has a great shape, will be nice to surf it at 4' - 6' I reckon.
And Santa Cruz must just about be the most chilled place on earth

Yeah, it's pretty mellow. Some great vintage architecture as well.

Got up for the early , didn`t feel so good and proceeded to have the shittest surf . Couldn`t get into a rhythm , couldn`t stick anything . In the end gave up and slunked back to the car . On the positive side its always nice to see the sun come up .
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Junky NE swell plus wind but all on my own so not bad at all.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
A few fun waves right out behind the rock at flatty on the low tide. After a couple of hours a shadow went under me that didn’t surface so I made my way in, feet up catching a few along the inside. I definitely thought of that massive beached sperm whale near sth Bal.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I had a super fun surf today, lil SE groundswell under NE wind wedging waves up, I'm testing small wave boards right now and it was ideal.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
was fun here.
I kind of wound everything down after that last winter swell....felt like a natural time to take a pause after what has been a very intense surfing program.
Then when Nick got taken and the general high number of white sharks around....it seemed disrespectful not to give that some space.
so I mostly shined the small beachies on offer, watched my son and his mate ride them in the arvo with the other kids down in front of the pub.
