Far out. Wouldn't be the first place I would imagine a fatality taking place.

Agree with Beanpole.

Has to be 10ft plus elsewhere to get the Kick working and even then it’s deep water and totally manageable.

Poor bugger.

See there’s a “Go Fund Me” page for Pat Curren. Apparently he lives in a trailer and they are going to evict the poor old legend.

Sad news. I remember he had a cameo appearance in Siestas and Olas years ago. Down in Mexico with Mike Diffendefer. Considering how much dosh the surf wear companies have you would think they could pitch in.

Yes he is indeed. I think this is something Pat's family would rather not have seen happen.

No kidding. There's a deep dark story down there somewhere. Just doesn't make sense on the surface.

Here's a bit of it offy:

Only a breadcrumb. I googled that too, doesn't explain anything.
What stands out to me is, even those who seem to be on top of the world, have crosses to bear.

Never a truer word spoken, and it’s perversely comforting somehow.

Yeah, as you say offy, just a breadcrumb, but these three stayed in my mind:

He was characteristically quiet, and carried himself with an utterly distinct and captivating blend of dignity and humility.

I am well aware of how hard it is for Pat and Mary to allow me to share some of their current situation - she’s been stoically resistant to offers of help for over 7 months now.

Mary told me once, “What people don’t understand about Pat is that he would give somebody the shirt right off his back with no idea if he’d get another one."

All well and good Cranked, but where's Tom? I'm almost certain Karen is tied up in this somehow.

The plots thickening in this story.

I have had experience with people who try to insert themselves into a family‘s private lives. It’s almost never good.

From Beachgrit comments, Maurice Cole:

"I'll tell you whats happening , Pat was an **** of a dad to Tom and Joe , abandoned them as kids and never gave a shit about them or their mother.."
