kinda hoping this swell doesn't claim anyone
Only kinda?
Trev, do you know if that blue and white board is a Tolhurst?
Not sure.
The guy's a regular but I've never noticed the make.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Beanpole, that's a Tolhurst for sure.
Tried surfing one of the 7'2"s in that tech (lightning) and it didn't paddle across the flats well or catch waves easily at all. Once up and riding it felt nice and loose but the poor paddling/wave catching left me non-plussed. Never tried any of the longboards.

Before this last mega swell have being watching a few guys on fishes get some great rides. The brand is Wishstix made by a central coast guy. Read an article about him, basically the boards are cut down 7S models. He designed the 7S fish for GSI. Reckons GSI just bigged them up for beginners but the actual fish sized boards go great guns.

I've been toying with getting a new mal like that. I have to say the old Tolhurst fish I've got catches waves insanely well. Rode thls Tolhurst Mal a few times at Hanalei Bay that went great as well.

If I was going to buy a mal and wanted epoxy I'd buy a Sunova over a Tolhurst due to the robust construction of the Sunova vs the Tolhurst and I'd be confident in the shapes would perform. Been riding an 8' 8ball I bought from Freshiedude (who may chime in as he has some Sunova longboards) and it is an exceptional board.

Not today but yesterday I surfed Gunnamatta over lunch. Fcuk me it was good, super clean, plenty of power. Shit load of people out but standard wasn't high so I got my fair share.
Heard that my office may not open for my team until later this year - that means lots more surfing in my future, assuming I don't change jobs.....

Went for a drive down the beach just before dark. Plenty of parks.
Looks like we have some banks after the tempest.

Had a fun little surf in front of the trees at Avoca today. 3ftrs with a little bit of attitude over a nice bank and about 3 people out. Got some fun ones. Always good to mine-sweep the left overs after a big swell and the circus has left town.

Big Left at Flinders, second day in a row. Perfect conditions, blue sky, sunshine and 3 metre on the face swell trains.
Why would I ever go back to travelling an hour and 10 minutes to and from work 5 days a week and miss out on this? I'm more productive in this climate than I ever was in the office
This pandemic has changed everything

Yep, you’re right, everything’s changed. now all the other locals who’d already made themselves flexible to maximise their surfing are now being joined by all the grooters of the world on their normally quiet midweek sessions
