traditional longboards & your techniques riding them....

Which of you guys ride traditional longboards and actively ensure you cross-step always when riding?

I mostly longboard a 9'2 x 23 1/4 x 3" - flat as a door, 50 / 50 rails, rides like a treat!

Have been practicing my cross-stepping for many years and make sure i never shuffle on the board!

;)

Count me in. The fade take off is an excellent way to prepare for cross stepping into trim. As you come out of the bottom turn the momentum produced sends you walking foward. A slower wave makes the whole thing less rushed. Particularly when getting back for that drop knee turn.
Unfortunatlly the point that I surf is a fast wave so things do get rushed a bit. platty.

I've been cross dressing for years, ever since the days of the old Kings X taxi club. Wouldn't have it any other way

The only time in my 9 years of surfing i have ever shuffled was when i surfed on a broken foot (not realising the severity), just thinking the pain would go away when i was in the water.. but it didnt so i shuffled my way to equal last place in my heat, and it really didnt please me.

It feels so untidy and just not smooth enough on any longboard, let alone on a log.

i ride it as fast as i can getting as much speed as i can , attempt to do big cutties , hit the lip for attempted airs and occasionally hit them and land them too, especially at suck up or luggar at Long reef ...

ride what ever you want , ride however you want .....

yeah i can cross step it too ...

I do. You shouldnt have a log if you can't do the basics, to dangerous.
