Don't even try, just roll or push through. Shouldn't be too bad for the waves you'd surf it on I imagine.

Yep, roll. One thing with doing a roll......if you just flip the rail vertical it goes down easier. Less resistance.

Not sure what you mean there BP. Pull it down on edge, then let it lay flat upside down?
Sounds easier said than done, but will give it a go.
Can't be harder than duck diving this board, it felt like there was someone pushing up from underneath

Edit; just had a look at a couple of YouTube clips. Got some new skills to practice.

Are you far enough forward on the nose when you duck dive, like about a foot further forward from your paddling position.

I actually mean keeping it on edge and pulling it under the water that way. Hanging on is a bit trickier but you get deeper quicker. Don't always do it myself but it tends to work when I remember to do it.

I still don't understand what you're talking about either.

Probably not Cranked, I'm keen for my next surf on it so I can work it all out some more. At 7' 6" it's not that much longer than my normal boards, but the nose has so much more area, which is what's making it hard to push under.

I've got a couple of meaty wide boards now that I didn't think I would ever sink them in a duck dive, but I found that fear helped me push through

Okay.....so you go to do a roll with the board but when you get it to being vertical you try to pull the board down edge first instead of flipping it right over so the fins are sticking up. This is more of a thing with a full sized mal in large surf. Can work with any wide nosed board that doesn't like duck diving or Eskimo rolls though. It just means the board tends to go down as the wave hits it rather than offering resistance.

Did you not like it with the single fin installed?

I really did like it but.... a few things.

1. I got $400 with average fins and leggy for it. Not bad for a 10 year old board.
2. I saw a 5’10 DHD the twin on the gumtree which I impulse bought and put the money towards. I was waiting for a Firewire Midas but they’re still too new and dont come up second hand yet, so jumped on the DHD. Still waiting for a decent swell to come to give it a good crack.
3. It didn’t fit in my travel coffin because of the width.

I’ve got that many boards at the moment that there is obviously a lot of “crossover” in the quiver. Only surfed it in very specific conditions at the point.
Will eventually get another eggy shape but im back in the gym and doing well keeping my back strong at the moment so will surf the shorter boards until I get a bit older.
I’d really like a 7’2 Firewire Seaxe to be honest, but once again, haven’t seen one second hand ever. Especially one with FCS2 boxes.

Been surfing my 6’0 PCC shorty and my 5’5 EVO recently, trying to work on my paddling for my PNG trip in dec. Will no doubt spend most of time on my 7’7 over summer.

I love eggy boards, just not right now I guess.

I've managed to get my boards down from 15 last Christmas to 6!

Astounding but true.

I updated my quiver the quiver thread.
10’s a nice round number.
I could talk about my boards all day. But will do so in the quiver thread for any takers.
Been meaning to take a new photos but can’t find the time on the weekends with a young family.
