fong said thicker guns don't work in south pacific reef breaks
and we've all seen the visual evidence of how hard he charges in big reef waves.

oh wait no we haven't.

The Mick Pierce quad gun on his Instagram site is a piece of art.

10'4 x 22 x 4 1/8 and weighs 10kg.

Love that dudes boards. If and when I ever feel the need to get another custom, I'll be getting him to shape it.

His site is my favourite board pornsite

This is an interesting board, pic was sent to me by a mate, he hasn't received it yet.

Dims are 8'6"x22"x3 3/4. it's a Quad. For those who like to have a model name for a board it's called a Brahman as in Da Bull, Made for 15ft. plus waves, thick and wide for paddle power to get into waves early, shorter than a normal gun for the waves it will surf so it's looser and fits in the barrel.

This bloke has a number of desert storms and found them great to get into waves and into the barrel but could not turn them, will be interesting to see how this goes.

Nah Perth, I've had it for a while. I'll bring it when the season starts. Although there were double overhead sets at impossibles this morning. The first set hit just after I paddled out, there were six in the water before it hit, then no-one for the next hour when I was out. It was light onshore and choppy, sectioning too fast, only got a few (on the fatburner :-D-: ) then gave up. Bigger now, supposedly, just going to have another shot

I've got the 8'er of that Modern blackhawk.
Only ridden it once but had a great time on it.
Paddled in early and really smooth to surf.
Al Merrick shape.

I've ridden the blackhawk a few more times since the last post.
That board will go great at Impossibles.
When the greedy longboarders who sit out the back of my local soft arsed point try to hog every set wave they have discovered the blackhawk's leveled the playing field. Lol.
Smooth arcs like a 70's single fin with speed to burn.

They made a 7'2 but production stopped about a year ago. They were a bargain: solid glass, resin tint, cut lap and polished for $630. No-one else would supply that for less than $1000

I agree Cuttle, thats what I had in mind for it, but I still haven't taken it with me to Bali, too many boards competing for my attention. Ive ridden it for about 30 mins in crap waves, but its definitely a keeper.

Yeah, sorry local shaper, but the extra $600 is better off in my pocket than his.

But wait. It was my local shaper that sold it to me.

Local shaper has a good business model. He'll trade just about anything: half his sales would be good second hand boards. He stocks GSI, TSA and more exotic brands, and will shape whatever you want, and is a great guy to boot. I must have bought 100 odd boards, including customs, off him over 20 odd years

Scroll down through Gravelle's FB page for some nice guns. His standard short boards are around $650, not bad for a custom these days.
