The 6'10 Wombat has really come into its own in small waist high conditions. Had a great afternoon yesterday, there was just three of us, the other two on 8' longboards. Wave after wave, super fun - great glide and acceleration. Ditto this morning.

Two days ago I was dropping into some double overhead waves. And earlier in the month it was in solid overhead.

It did take me a while to get used to it, unlike the Bonzer which was immediate.

The board is a great all rounder, a one board quiver - good in all conditions, master of none. I reckon it would be great for the average east coast conditions and for Perth.

It's definitely a keeper. I'd take it to Bali for November to March but not the rest of the year.

How's the crowds at the moment? The Surfers of Bali insta account had a clip of Keramas with a million people on it. Quieter on your side?

Very quiet.

You can't rely on forecasts for the wind (it changes on an hourly basis) and the swell at this time of the year, you have to go and look every hour or so - most surfers can't/don't do this.

So about half the time I score OK conditions with only a few other surfers, the other half its bad conditions and/or a dozen or so surfers.

Also, the other side has opened up and at least 50% of surfers are now concentrating on those right handers

Surfers of Bali Site is usually fun to watch. It shows the incidental side of a session....plus the photographer seems to have an eye for girls butts.

So ordered a Mid Vish. 12 weeks. Just in time for Autumn. Yew.

I have an 8-oh and a 6'10 on order which should be ready in a week or two

Very stylish. Kills it getting barrelled on his backhand nose riding.

The Joel Fitx Sea Gypsy is feeling good now I have had it out a few times, great paddle, nice trim. Been riding my Npj fins in it though which are probs too stiff, need to get the ones JF reccommends.

What are those?

Have a look at DVS 8inch Whip and his side bites if the JF’s don’t work out. Great fun combo

KAI SALLAS 7" SINGLE FIN and PG side bites... if these dont work out I wont be buying anymore. My current ones ok, but I can feel it could be better, havent purchased yet though

Hey thud, yep got the 6'10 and had a surf on it (I have had the 8-oh a while)

The 6'10 feels very refined under the arm, lovely rails but the tail is wider than I expected. Wider than the 8-oh, I should compare the dims, I can't remember the dims on either of them but the 8-oh is more pulled in and straighter. The shorter fishy is more curvy... And that is how they ride!

Point and shoot or do you want to get all curvy and turny????

I rode the 6'10 for the first time in waist high, full tide, Longboard wave really, light offshore.. not what I bought it for but a good opportunity to get a few waves and feel it out.

Except I didn't need anytime to suss it out! First wave, a left, dropped in, bottom turn off the top down carve hook back out to the shoulder.... Twin fins are no good on your backhand apparently. And so it went from there, made every wave and got some fun turns in.... Great potential. It's really quite performancey yet still has plenty of glide. No hunched over spasmodic pumping required.

So all good this far, I am also looking forward to getting the 8-oh out in some good point waves.

Loving the sea gypsy. Great paddler and glide.. cracking board for this time of year.
