Yeah, my McCoys suck around Perth. All I want in Indo is for it to paddle in early, take a vertical drop, then react easily and quickly.

The point is getting waves.

They might go OK but most surfers won't get many waves when it's bigger.

The point for me is getting and riding waves when it's over head and a half to double. I'm fcuking 69 and usually the oldest in the water by 10 or 20 years. I need paddle power.

At that size about 50% the surfers won't be catching any waves on their 5'10 performance shortboards. But the top 10% of surfers will still catch most of the waves on their regular shortboards.

Another 10%, usually older surfers, will have bigger boards seven foot something and they will also catch a lot of waves.

That's the group that I'm in. In the past I've ridden a 7'4 or an 8' McCoy in those and easily been amoung the top 20% of wave catchers in those conditions.

I don't have any of my McCoys with me, as the swell is not usually big at this time of year. So I'm making do with what I've got. Once I sorted out the fin problem I used the extra paddle power of that board to start getting waves.

I sort of admire your reticence to not go uber long. If this thing doesn’t work out look at a DVS Weiner I reckon (check his Instagram out). Cuttlefish might have had one.

I just got back from my first ride of the 6'4 Bonzer Biscuit.

Waist to head high, perfect conditions. Wow, what a board! It was effortlessly fast, but still turned on a dime. WTF? How can it do both those things?

It paddles well, duck dives ok.

I want a complete quiver of them: 6'4, 6'8, 7'2 & 7'6.

And I have just ordered a 6'10 Vish.... Should be ready in a month or so

There's a few guys I surf with absolutely dominating the lineup here when it's big on their 5'6 or so twins.

A 6'10 sounds about right for me. There's just too many boards out there that I would like to try

What's the glossing like Cranky?
I've had a fishcuit for ages that was brilliant in the right waves but the glass was way too soft and weak.

I've only surfed it once. No depressions yet.

I do have a tail pad and that prevents/disguises all the duck diving knee depressions though.

Supposedly 2 fours on the deck and one on the bottom, but it feels way heavier than that.

Had a good time on the 8-oh a couple of mornings ago, only small, waist to maybe chest high but super clean lil runners. It really is a great option to a 9ft wide nosed log. Water was nice as well, great to be back in boardies.

The 8ft fish attracts a lot of attention/comments. And yes, cuttlefish fish had a 6'6 carbon fibre Weiner.... But still waxes lyrical about his 8ft carbon DVS alrounder.

Cranky, a DVS reef runner would also be a good time, he makes them from 7ft thru to 9ft, the boys in the boardroom surf shop rate them and have been riding them at Burleigh a fair bit.
