To me, the shape of the board itself looks tasty. well balanced, instantly relatable and familiar.

But I’d be skunked if it surfed like a tuflite. Very tempted but.

No.

But don’t really see anything particularly mini mal looking about it. At 6”8 it looks more like a well balanced and versatile (longer) shortboard with an elliptical planshape and rounded pin.

Longer rail, ellipse, rounded pin, thruster, vee bottom, moderate rocker, etc. it appears to tick many boxes.

My only reservation is the potential tuflite feel of it. And sure, the paint and logo looks pop out and daggy, but what do I care about that. For $530 if it felt close to a standard PU (flex and dampening etc.) then I’d be on it

Why not pay the extra 300 and get a board from say Dick Vanstraalen, Webster, Bennetts....

$800 for a DVS ?

+1. Think of it as an investment in fun. Life’s too short to ride Chinese rubbish.

Toots. How’s your bonzer egg go ? That seems pretty ideal. Nothing too corky but. Knifey rails so you can keep it on rail.

It’s a lovely board. Only get it out when it’s nice and lined up. Smooth, drivey, very fast. Section connector. Think speed and flow rather than acute turns.
7.2 by 21 by 2 3/4”. No idea of litres.
Plenty of foam in the middle, but quite foiled out. Thin tail. Medium rails, that wouldn’t look out of place on a HPSB.
The only retro part is the planshape.
I think of it as an ‘investment’. It’s a denser semi gun blank, with a decent glass job, so it will hopefully last another 5 years. It’s 3 y/o and still in great shape.
Bugger the cost, it makes me happy.

EDIT. Actually it’s got sort of 50/50 rails in the front 12” or so. Assume that’s put there to deflect chop. Clever.

Sounds ideal. I’ve always been more about speed and flow (rather than short arc snappiness) anyway.

psillakis on the NBs shapes them under license. might be time to hock a few boards and get a custom. Dense blank with volan or s-cloth it should last ok.

The 6’10 rabbidge 2+1/single was ideal when I was 78, not 89kg. Its feeling like i need more foam now, as the 2 5/8 thick with a rolled deck and low rail feels a bit boggy at times.

Yep do it Hatchy. I have a smaller egg, but it is excellent. If you want foiled rails - ask for them. Some of the onboard eggs are pretty beefy.

Yeah I think I’m gonna get one. 6’8 bonzer egg with knifey rails. Should cover a lot of conditions and suit my style of surfing pretty well.

7.2 is a fair bit of board, go smaller for an all rounder.

That review. I’ve never had a bonzer that “tracks”.

Great if you surf back foot.
